Walking trails with different profiles
The Discovery of the Springs is an easy 1.5 km walking trail that starts at the church in Estavar. Its distance, difficulty rating and starting point give you clear guidance for this walk.
PR 79 – L’Hippopotame is a moderately challenging 9.0 km circular hike. It starts at Bajande station and takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes. At the beginning, the route follows the Estavar irrigation canal; it also leads to a 360° panorama across the entire Cerdagne.

Regional history and local connections
Estavar is located in the Parc Naturel RĂ©gional des PyrĂ©nĂ©es Catalanes. A historical connection can be traced through the Roman road “Strata Ceretana”: it ran through the area of Estavar and connected LlĂvia with the hamlet of Caillastres, in the direction of Eyne and the TĂŞt Valley. Alongside the buildings, named roads and places are also central to the region’s history.
In the hamlet of Caillastres, you can buy honey from the Cerdagne. Check availability locally.
