Outdoor activities by the lagoon, nature, the harbor and culture each offer something different. The following information groups these offerings by their specific type and— for the seasonal Mercredis terroir—by when they take place.

Outdoor activities and nature by the lagoon

The Parcours de santé du Mas de Pérols is 0.9 kilometers long and has no difficult inclines. It includes exercise equipment, two children’s play areas and two jogging loops of 500 and 1,000 meters, respectively. The different lengths give you two specific options for the jogging loop; they should not be confused with the total length of the trail. The trail also includes an educational flora and fauna path along the shore of the Étang de Pérols and an insect trail.

A different aspect of nature takes center stage at the Étang de l’Or: the area is part of the Natura 2000 network and includes 14 habitats of community interest. It is important for 43 bird species for breeding, wintering or feeding. The lagoon therefore offers a range of different themes: the trail combines exercise and educational paths, while the Étang de l’Or focuses on habitats and the area’s importance for birds.

Another specific activity detail concerns the Sentier des Tamaris in the Étang du Méjean / Étang de Pérols area: horseback riding is permitted on this trail. Be sure to observe local restrictions and check them before your visit.

The harbor and seasonal events

Today, the harbor of Pérols is primarily a marina and continues to welcome fishermen throughout the year. The Port de plaisance de Pérols has direct access to the sea. If you plan to visit the harbor, check the current operating conditions beforehand.

The Mercredis terroir take place every Wednesday evening in summer, during July and August. They showcase local producers and artisans. If you plan your trip during this period, consider Wednesday evening as a possible event time and check the exact dates and program in advance.

Culture in repurposed buildings

The Maison des Arts Max Castan is housed in a former water tower that was converted into an arts venue. It hosts exhibitions and the École Municipale de Musique (EMM). The tower’s former function and its current use as a cultural venue give the institution a distinctive architectural and cultural point of reference.

The Médiathèque Jean Giono is in the center of Pérols, in a former wine cellar and a former hosiery factory. Here, too, former uses of the buildings meet a present-day cultural institution. Together, these places illustrate two different conversions: a former water tower turned into an arts venue and the former commercial premises of the Médiathèque.

Les Arènes leisure area

The Les Arènes leisure area has seven play features, including playhouses and various other activities. It is located between the arenas and the boules court. This makes it a distinct leisure destination, separate from Pérols’ nature and culture offerings: the focus here is on the play features and their location between these two landmarks.
