Chilly-Mazarin: Parks, Culture and Seasonal Experiences
Accommodation in Chilly-Mazarin
In Chilly-Mazarin, things to explore during a stay range from a historic château estate and a variety of parks to culture, sports and seasonal activities. If you are looking for a hotel, you can first consider what you want your trip to focus on: architectural history, time in green spaces, outdoor exercise or a visit to the market. The places and activities below offer some specific ideas.
Château de Chilly-Mazarin and its history
The Château de Chilly-Mazarin estate was protected as a listed site by decree of 4 August 1953. Its main construction phase dates from the 17th century; a building campaign is recorded for 1627. These are two distinct points in time: the building history refers to the 17th century, while the protection date falls in the mid-20th century. Those interested in historic architecture will find a clearly defined part of the town’s history here, distinct from the parks’ recreational activities.
Two parks with different features
The three-hectare Parc de l’hôtel de ville combines family-friendly amenities with gardens and nature. Its facilities include an educational vegetable garden and children’s playgrounds. Black and white swans, geese, mallards, moorhens and coots are among the birds living by the pond. The same park therefore brings together play areas, a place to learn about growing vegetables and a pond with various waterbirds. The playgrounds are a specific draw for families, while the garden and birds offer other points of interest.
The Parc des Champs-Foux has a stronger focus on sports. It has street-workout equipment, a fitness trail with nine stations, a multi-sports court, a modular pump track and a pétanque court with three lanes. There are also 3,000 m² of illuminated footpaths and a children’s play area. The park is open to the public free of charge every day, year-round. Compared with the Parc de l’hôtel de ville, it places greater emphasis on exercise and a range of sports facilities, while the other park appeals to different interests, including its educational vegetable garden and pond.
Culture and seasonal activities
The municipal Médiathèque Albert Camus has books, CDs and DVDs, as well as multimedia areas for children and adults. It complements the parks with cultural offerings for different age groups. Chill’in Chilly is an annual summer programme. It includes musical picnics, craft workshops, themed evenings, family games and introductory sports sessions. The programme is seasonal and may vary from one edition to the next. The 2026 edition of Chill’in Chilly was free, open to everyone and required no registration. If you want to plan your trip around a particular event, check the dates and programme for the relevant edition.
Plan a market visit and choose a hotel
Fresh seasonal produce is available to buy at the Marché de Chilly-Mazarin twice a week. Market schedules can change, so it is a good idea to check the current market days if a visit is important to your travel plans. Together, the market, parks, Médiathèque, summer programme and château offer different possible focuses for a stay.
