Mélisey offers a range of options for a stay: nature and trails, leisure activities on the Ognon, and church architecture. When planning, you can decide whether to focus on the landscape, outdoor activities or historic architecture.

Nature and trails on the Plateau des 1000 Étangs

Mélisey is one of three gateways to the Échappée des 1000 Étangs, a route dedicated to ecotourism. Experiences along the route include landscape breaks designed as multisensory encounters with nature. This means experiencing nature through several senses. Mélisey is connected to the route; the landscape breaks themselves are not assigned to specific places in the town.

The Plateau des 1000 Étangs, associated with Mélisey, is characterised by water and woodland, as well as rich, well-preserved biodiversity. For those interested in nature and exercise, the family-friendly Le Grand Rosbeck circular trail offers a specific route: it follows small woodland paths across the plateau and starts just outside Mélisey. Its circular route and woodland paths give it a distinctive character among the nature activities on offer.

The Étang du Grand Rosbeck is suitable for a walk or a quiet break in peaceful surroundings. As well as the circular trail, you can make walking or a peaceful pause the focus of your visit. Which option suits you depends on whether you want to be on the move or spend time in a quiet place.

Leisure activities at La Praille

The Zone de loisirs de la Praille is located on the Ognon at the entrance to Mélisey. Its facilities include children’s play equipment, minigolf, basketball and boules courts, picnic tables and barbecue facilities. This selection combines play and sports with opportunities to enjoy a picnic. When planning your time there, you can consider which of these activities matters most to you.

In summer, the leisure area has a supervised outdoor swimming pool with a 25 × 12-metre pool, a paddling pool and a slide. The outdoor pool is seasonal. As facilities may change, check the current facilities and opening arrangements before your trip.

Church architecture in Mélisey

The apse and bell tower of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Mélisey date from the 12th century. The Romanesque chancel bay, bell tower and choir end of the church in Mélisey have been protected as historic monuments since 18 November 1986. The two dates refer to different things: the 12th century indicates the age of the apse and bell tower, while 1986 marks the start of protection for the listed architectural elements.

Planning your stay

If you plan to visit the outdoor pool during your stay, bear in mind that it is seasonal and confirm the current opening arrangements in advance.
