Émagny offers several specific reasons to plan a stay that combines local history with activities along the Ognon. The history of the former village of Pin l’Émagny, a family-friendly walking route by the river, a fishing section and designated routes appeal to travelers with different interests. There is also the Château de Moncley as a place to visit, and an annual open-air concert at the Château de Pin. If you are looking for hotels in Émagny, these themes can help you decide what to focus on during your trip.

Émagny and its village history

Historically, Émagny and Pin formed a single village called Pin l’Émagny. In 1789, the Ognon became the natural boundary between the Doubs and Haute-Saône departments, separating Émagny from Pin. The river is therefore connected not only with the riverside walking route, but also with the history of the area. Émagny’s history is also closely linked to Bellefontaine.

The Domaine du château de Moncley

The protected Domaine du château de Moncley also includes plots of land in Émagny. Parts of the estate are classified as historic monuments, while other plots in Émagny are listed as historic monuments. The complex includes buildings and courtyards, a park, a kitchen garden and an orchard, the access avenue, boundary and retaining walls, the portal, the underground areas beneath the parterre, and the remains of an earlier castle.

The Château de Moncley can be visited in its entirety, with around fifteen rooms preserved and furnished. Visitor arrangements may change, so check the current visiting conditions before making firm plans.

On foot, by bike or on designated routes

The Voie verte in Émagny is a family-friendly walking route along the banks of the Ognon. It provides a specific starting point if you want to walk by the river. As route conditions may change, it is advisable to check them before your walk.

La Ligne des escargots is designated for cycle touring, hiking and mountain biking. The two route descriptions therefore differ in their designated uses: the Voie verte is a riverside walking route, while La Ligne des escargots is listed for three types of activity. When planning your time outdoors, you can choose according to how you want to get around; also check local access conditions for La Ligne des escargots.

Fishing and a circular route

On the Ognon in Émagny, there is a fishing section managed by the AAPPMA de la Vallée de l’Ognon. It includes an area for night carp fishing. If fishing is part of your travel plans, check local fishing regulations and access conditions before taking part, as these may change.

Parking for the La vallée de l’Ognon et l’Abbaye de Bellefontaine circular route is available at Place des Tilleuls in Émagny. If you plan to do the route, this car park is a specific landmark to use when planning. Parking information may change, so check it before your visit.

An annual concert

An open-air concert featuring light and sound effects is held every year at the Château de Pin and is open to the public. It is performed by the Orchestre d’Harmonie de Pin-Emagny. The concert is another cultural option in the Émagny area. Check the current program and announced dates before your trip if you would like to include it in your plans.
