Archaeological evidence, the life of singer Mado Robin, and cycling and fishing offer different perspectives on Yzeures-Sur-Creuse.

Archaeology and the Dolmen de la Pierre Levée

The Musée Minerve is a Musée de France focused on archaeology. It displays remains of a votive column dedicated to Jupiter, including carved blocks and an attempted reconstruction. There are also remains of a temple and Merovingian sarcophagi. The range is useful when choosing a theme: alongside architectural and religious references, the sarcophagi also provide evidence of burial practices.

The Dolmen de la Pierre Levée complements this overview of the collections with a single monument. It dates from the Middle Neolithic, approximately 3500 BC. Its millstone capstone measures 4.20 m × 3 m and rests on a limestone support. A semicircle of stones surrounds the dolmen; it is described as an ancient cromlech. The combination of capstone, support and stone semicircle adds a concrete sense of its structure and shape to the dating information.

The Musée Mado Robin and its focus on music

The Musée Mado Robin presents the singer’s life through numerous objects, photographs, posters, scores and costumes. Videos and musical excerpts are also part of the exhibition. A sound-enhanced reconstruction of her opera dressing room showcases her most important stage costumes. Alongside biographical materials, the dressing room and stage costumes thus emerge as subjects in their own right.

Families can visit the Musée Mado Robin independently, with multimedia support. The availability of these visits may vary by season.

Cycling and fishing along the Creuse

The “Entre Claise et Creuse – Boucle vélo n°11” cycling loop follows the south bank of the Creuse to Yzeures-Sur-Creuse. If you include the loop in your plans, check current route conditions before setting off; they may change.

The Parcours de Pêche passion des bords de Creuse holds the “Parcours Passion” and “Station Pêche” awards. It is 1,000 m long and includes a 500 m section for night fishing. The two lengths answer different questions: 1,000 m refers to the full route, while 500 m identifies the section for night fishing. Fishing rules and conditions may change; check the current regulations and conditions before fishing.

Choose the focus of your stay

The museums have different focuses: the Musée Minerve centres on archaeological evidence, while the Musée Mado Robin explores a singer’s life and her opera dressing room. The dolmen adds a stone structure of approximate date to the archaeological theme. When planning your trip, you can choose between archaeological collection items, music and stage-related themes, cycling or fishing.
