Wine and regional cuisine

Ingrandes-de-Touraine is one of the municipalities that make up the Bourgueil AOC. The Château de Minière vineyard is also at the heart of this appellation and covers 18 hectares. Another wine producer in the area is Domaine Lamé-Delisle-Boucard, which is organically certified and holds High Environmental Value (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification.

For a wine tasting, Château de Minière offers a guided 45-minute selection: red and rosé wines from the Bourgueil AOC and the winery’s sparkling wines are available to taste. The guided tasting is followed by a one-and-a-half-hour walk through the vineyards. Along the way, Cabernet Franc and the terroirs of Bourgueil are introduced. This combines the tasting with a more in-depth look at the grape variety and wine-growing region.

Local cuisine is also part of what the area has to offer: the restaurant “Vincent, cuisinier de campagne” in Ingrandes-de-Touraine serves dishes made with 100% local, seasonal ingredients. Your travel plans can therefore include both wine and cuisine that is explicitly focused on local, seasonal produce.

Cycling and walking routes

Walking and cycling paths in Ingrandes-de-Touraine run through vineyards and woodland. For a bike ride, you can compare two signposted loops by their length and route. The 25-kilometre “Entre val et coteau – Boucle vélo n°31” starts in Ingrandes-de-Touraine and follows Rue des Roches along the hillside. The stated duration is two hours and 30 minutes.

The 35-kilometre “Grands crus et belles demeures – Boucle vélo n°23” goes to Château de Minière and through its vineyards. It is suitable for beginners and marked in green and white. It is ten kilometres longer than the 25-kilometre loop; you can also take each route’s course into account when choosing. Check the route conditions and signage before setting off.

For a walk, the “Ingrandes de Touraine” circular trail starts in the town centre, passes through vineyards and woodland, follows the Marais de Biez and returns to the starting point. The route is marked in yellow in both directions. You can also choose between a cycling trip and a walk based on the landscapes described: both walking and cycling paths run through vineyards and woodland, while the cycling routes are also described by their different lengths and specific destinations.

Mont Sigou and local history

Mont Sigou overlooks the Loire Valley from Ussé to Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil. There is an orientation table and information panels about the history of the Loire Valley at Mont Sigou. The viewpoint is accessible all year round. This stop combines a sense of direction with information about the history of the landscape.

Église Saint-Romain is also part of the town’s history. It was built in 1859 in the neo-Gothic style, to plans by diocesan architect Gustave Guérin. Its stained-glass windows were installed between 1861 and 1877 by Julien-Léopold Lobin and Lucien-Léopold Lobin. A wall near the Salle des fêtes is the only surviving remnant of the former church, which dates from the mid-11th century. These two architectural landmarks represent different eras: the former church from the 11th century and the 19th-century neo-Gothic building.
