Discover Chenôves
Accommodation in Chenôves
Chenôves brings together several distinct travel interests: Chèvrerie des Filletières produces goat’s cheese and sells it directly from the farm; Eglise Saint-Blaise and Lavoir les Filletières offer different aspects of the area’s heritage. At Étang des Valottes, fishing and picnicking take centre stage. Choosing your trip by theme lets you focus on cheese and the farm shop, architectural history, or leisure activities at the Étang.
Goat’s cheese and farm shop
Chèvrerie des Filletières in Chenôves produces raw-milk goat’s cheese. Boutons de culotte is the named speciality; the range also includes AOP Charolais cheese and other traditional lactic cheeses. The farm shop sells the farm’s own cheeses directly from the farm. Honey, wine and terrines are also available. The availability of these additional products may vary; if you are looking for a particular item, check the current selection. The farm can be visited during the farm shop’s opening hours. Plan your visit around the shop’s hours and check the opening details before travelling.
Church and washhouse
Eglise Saint-Blaise brings together several phases of construction. The masonry preserves traces of an earlier church, probably built in the first half of the 11th century. This dating should be interpreted cautiously: it refers to the earlier church building, not to the extensive later alterations. These took place at the end of the Gothic period and especially in the 19th century. Visitors interested in architecture can view the older traces in the masonry and later interventions as distinct parts of the building’s history. Lavoir les Filletières is also freely accessible year-round and was renovated in 2010. The year refers to the renovation, not to the construction of the washhouse. The two buildings therefore offer different insights: at the church, the focus is on the sequence of older traces and later alterations; at the Lavoir, it is on the 2010 renovation. Eglise Saint-Blaise and Lavoir les Filletières are freely accessible year-round; check local access information before your visit.
Fishing and picnicking at Étang des Valottes
Étang des Valottes offers two leisure activities. It is suitable for picnics, and fishing is also permitted there daily from April to February. Fish caught there may include carp, roach, tench and trout. As fishing conditions can change, check the information again before your trip.
Planning around opening hours and seasons
Your schedule therefore depends on what you want to focus on: for a visit to the farm, you need to take the farm shop’s opening hours into account. Eglise Saint-Blaise and Lavoir les Filletières are freely accessible year-round; fishing at Étang des Valottes is permitted daily from April to February. If you choose to travel outside the fishing season, both historical sites remain accessible year-round. The fishing season therefore does not automatically limit your ability to visit the church and Lavoir.
