The present-day Church of Saint-Maurice was built starting in 1049. Originally, it was a priory with parish functions belonging to the Abbey of Saint-Étienne in Dijon. Its history is therefore connected both to a local parish function and to the abbey in Dijon. Its floor plan is in the shape of a Latin cross and comprises two building structures. A Latin-cross floor plan describes a cross-shaped layout; the two building structures add information about its architectural arrangement. The church can thus be understood both through its period of construction and its architecture.

Fort de Sennecey, also known as Fort Junot, is listed as a historic monument. The listing order is dated February 12, 2007. Alongside the church’s history, it provides a separate point of reference in the local history.

The Roman road is also part of the area’s historical context: Sennecey-Lès-Dijon lies on a road that connected Dijon with ports on the Saône. It adds an earlier transport link to the area’s architectural history.

Green space among the fields
