Church, Fortified House and Historic Route

The Church of Saint-Symphorien combines architectural features from different periods. Its 12th-century Romanesque apse was built from volcanic slag. In the 19th century, the nave and bell tower were reconstructed in the Neo-Romanesque style by Eugène Riboud. The church also has a vestment cabinet bearing the coat of arms of the Bishop of Le Puy. The building therefore brings together both the Romanesque apse and the later Neo-Romanesque design of the nave and tower.

The Domaine du Barret was first mentioned in 1250. It originally consisted of a fortified house surrounded by a square perimeter wall. There were watchtowers at at least two corners of the wall. This historic site offers a different perspective on the area's history from the church's architectural phases.

The historic Voie Bolène is also part of the area's history. It connected Rodez with Lyon and passed through Sanssac-L'église.
