Accommodation in Vieure
Vieure brings together a large body of water, marked trails and distinctive architecture. If you are looking for a hotel in Vieure, you can first consider what you would like to focus on during your trip: time at the Plan d’eau, a specifically described hike, or architectural history and parkland. The town’s features offer different ways to shape your stay.
Plan d’eau de Vieure: water and activities
The Plan d’eau de Vieure covers 65 hectares, 33 hectares of which are taken up by the pond. These figures distinguish the total area of the Plan d’eau from the pond it contains. Canoes, pedal boats and stand-up paddleboards are available to rent by the water. Rental services may operate seasonally. If you plan to use one of them, check availability for your travel dates in advance.
The outdoor escape game “L’Autre Monde” is also based at the Plan d’eau. It is designed as a cooperative treasure hunt using a backpack, a travel journal and various interactive items. The activities therefore differ in character: the canoes, pedal boats and boards take you onto the water, while the game centres on searching and solving puzzles together.
Marked hiking trails can be found around the Plan d’eau and throughout the wider Bocage Bourbonnais. The network of trails thus extends from the area around the water to the broader landscape. Conditions and access may vary, so check the latest information before setting out.
Hiking the Circuit des vénérables – PR 22
The Circuit des vénérables – PR 22 is a very easy, 11-kilometre hiking trail. The stated duration is 2 hours and 15 minutes. The route starts at 18 Place de l’église in Vieure. The distance and duration answer different planning questions: one describes the route, while the other provides an indication of the time required.
There are wooden sculptures along the circular route at the hamlet of Les Muriats. The described surroundings of the Circuit also include the Forêt domaniale de Dreuille, characterised by stately oaks, old beeches and mature hornbeams. The route description therefore includes both a specially created stopping point and a specific picture of the forest.
Châteaux and landscaped grounds
Château de la Salle retains 14th-century medieval fabric and was extended around 1875. Later additions include a square tower in the Neo-Gothic and Neo-Louis XIII styles. The building thus combines a medieval foundation with a 19th-century extension.
Château de la Salle is protected in its entirety as a Monument historique. The protection includes the park, outbuildings and furnished interiors. It was listed by decree dated 18 November 2002. This information about the scope of protection adds the status of the entire château and its specified features to its architectural history.
The park of Château de La Chaussière offers a different perspective. It is laid out as an English landscape park, has centenary-old trees and offers a fine view. In contrast with the architectural history of Château de la Salle, the focus here is on garden style, trees and views.
Event at the Plan d’eau
The Hadra Trance Festival is advertised as an annual event at the Plan d’eau de Vieure. The festival is advertised as welcoming 10,000 festival-goers, with four days of uninterrupted music and celebration, three stages and more than 150 artists. Dates and schedules are seasonal; check the information for your planned travel dates.
