Synevyrska Polyana itself brings together several cultural landmarks; natural attractions and parks lie in the surrounding area, both nearby and farther afield.

Cultural Heritage in the Village

The wooden Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God in Synevyrska Polyana dates from 1817. Another landmark in the village’s history is the small open-air museum, which opened in 2010. Its four main buildings include a school, a village house, a stable, and a chapel.

The museum’s furnishings include tables, a bed, and a cradle. Other exhibits include school supplies, embroidered clothing, and leather and wool garments worn for everyday activities or on holidays. Straw crafts and household items round out the collection; these include a loom, a spindle, kerosene lamps, and dishes. The open-air museum is open by request; arrange your visit in advance. Its address is Urochyshche Verkhna Zarika, 223. Check the address again before setting out.

Scenery and Nearby Destinations

Lake Synevyr lies near Synevyrska Polyana at an altitude of 989 metres and is a wetland of international importance. A viewpoint overlooking the water is located on the hiking trail to the lake, 1,200 metres from the checkpoint. The first stop on the trail is a wooden Gothic-style chapel dedicated to the Apostles Peter and Paul, beside a healing spring.

White Beast Waterfall lies near Synevyrska Polyana on both sides of the road; its water flow varies seasonally. Kamyanka Waterfall is also nearby and can be reached easily by car. Check the current conditions before driving.

Historic Routes and Fortifications

The historical educational route “Liniia Arpada” runs through the Ostriky area between Synevyr and Synevyrska Polyana, passing reinforced-concrete bunkers associated with the history of the Second World War. A marked footpath of the same name starts on the Khust–Lake Synevyr road and loops back to it; an information board and directional signs are in place. The fortifications include 39 structures, two trenches measuring 500 metres in length, and positions for automatic weapons and machine guns. Check current local conditions before hiking, as the route description may change.

Discover Synevyr National Park

In the wider region, the Synevyr National Park visitor centre provides information about the park’s natural areas, native inhabitants, attractions, open museums, and architectural monuments. It also offers virtual tours of educational trails and tourist routes, as well as films about nature and regional history. Check availability in advance.

The visitor centre’s third floor houses museum rooms with local-history exhibits and objects from the Museum of Forest and Rafting; the exhibition may change. Near Lake Synevyr, the Synevyr National Park has two horse-riding routes: one is 500 metres long, the other one kilometre. Check before your trip whether they are currently open for use.
