If you are looking for a hotel in Kremenchuk, the city’s varied themes can help you plan your stay: green spaces and geological natural landmarks sit alongside sacred architecture, museums, and sites of industrial history. The examples below show where you can focus your interests. Specific visitor conditions apply at some museums and sites, so you should take them into account when planning.

Parks and geological natural landmarks

Miskij sad is a 7-hectare complex natural monument. Dating back to 1787, it is one of the first regular parks on the left bank of Ukraine. Here, a long history as a park goes hand in hand with designated protected status.

A larger green space is Pridniprowskij miskij park on the left bank of the Dnipro. The park and garden monument cover 40.19 hectares, of which 4.19 hectares are protected areas. This area is already included in the total area.

Geological features are also part of the city’s character. “Skelja — granitnij rejestr” is a geological natural monument covering an area of 0.05 hectares. Water levels from the largest floods in the city’s history are marked at the geological site “Skelja rejestru.” This gives the site a connection to both geology and the historical development of flooding on the Dnipro.

Sacred architecture and historic sites

The Church of Zerkwa Uspinnja Boschoji Materi is a monument of 19th-century church architecture and the only surviving church building from this period in Kremenchuk. It was built from 1863 to 1877 as a cemetery church at Krjukiwske kladowischtsche. In 1897, a parish school was built next to the church. The building thus offers several specific dates in the city’s history: the church’s construction period and the later establishment of the school.

Krjukiwskij nekropol offers another window into the past, with numerous graves from the 19th and 20th centuries still preserved. On the right bank, the house of merchant Tschurkin dates from 1902. The former club building of the workers of the wagon repair workshops, which is considered a landmark, is also located there.

Kam’jana wescha prisutnich misz, a national monument, dates from the mid-18th century. For planning purposes, it is important to know that the tower is inaccessible and falling into disrepair. This restriction sets it apart from places that are of interest primarily for their architectural history or historic fabric.

Museums and industrial history

At the Museum of the History of AT “Ukrtatnafta,” more than 3,000 exhibits tell the story of the Kremenchuk oil refinery, from construction beginning in 1960 to the present day. A segment from a documentary about the refinery’s construction is also shown during a guided tour. Tours require advance registration; check the current arrangements before your visit.

The Museum of the History of the “Kredmasch” Plant covers the company’s history from the late 19th century to the present day. Museum tours require advance booking; check the current arrangements before planning your visit. The two industrial museums have different focuses: one tells the story of an oil refinery from 1960 onward, while the other traces its history back to the late 19th century.

The Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics History in Kremenchuk covers the local aviation schools and combat units from 1920 to 1941, as well as the activities of the Kremenchuk flying club from 1938 to 1941. Another museum room, “Salischki staroobrjadnizkoji zerkwi,” displays remains of the foundation of an Old Believer church, its lower church, and a wall fresco. Visits there require advance registration and written permission. Be sure to arrange your visit in advance.
