Kirovohrad Oblast offers a range of attractions: arboretums with many plant species, museums with extensive collections, and an excursion program focused on beekeeping. When planning your trip, it is worth considering each place according to its particular focus. This can help you decide whether park landscapes, museum topics, or a specific activity should shape your stay.

Parks of different sizes

Onufriivka Park is a 51-hectare landscape and park complex of national importance in the valley of the Omelnyk River. Its pavilions are places to relax. Another park landscape awaits you at the Veseli Bokovenky Arboretum: more than 2,000 plant species grow there, and five sections recreate, on a smaller scale, natural landscapes from specific geographic zones. The sections and the diversity of species offer two different ways to explore the park: its recreated landscape areas and its plant life.

The parks also differ in size. Veseli Bokovenky Park covers 109 hectares and is a garden monument of national importance. Its stated area is 543 hectares when the dendrological selection station is included. Tents are permitted in the park; if you plan to take advantage of this option, check in advance whether it is currently available.

A park with paths, pavilions, and a concert hall

Kropyvnytskyi Arboretum covers a well-maintained area of 44 hectares, with walkways, benches, pavilions, lighting, and fountains. It also has an open-air concert hall for cultural events. The park therefore combines landscaped grounds with facilities for events. There are also attractions for children and families, as well as extreme rides. If you plan to visit specific attractions, check in advance which ones are currently operating.

Museums and an underground command post

Around 2,000 exhibits are on display at the Khutir Nadiia Museum Reserve; a large proportion of them were donated by the Tobilevych–Tarkovsky family. The grounds of Khutir Nadiia cover more than 11 hectares of protected, scenic parkland, with historic, architectural, monumental, and garden-art features. These include a pond, a spring, and a well with mineral water suitable for use as table water. The collection and the grounds offer different facets of the site: exhibits stand alongside a landscape of historic and artistic features.

The Strategic Missile Forces Museum displays more than 3,000 exhibits on the history of the USSR Strategic Missile Forces and a regiment whose personnel served on combat duty. An underground passageway, 155 meters long, leads to an underground command post designed to operate fully autonomously for more than 45 days. The exhibition thus links a specific technical structure with the history of the forces and the regiment.

Beekeeping and views

In the village of Chervone, the Karaush family apiary offers an excursion program. It is led by professional beekeeper Oleksandr Karaush, chairman of the Travnevyi med association. Honey tasting is also available. Please confirm that the excursion and honey tasting are available before making plans. A different perspective is offered by the observation tower at the Haidamatska Sich Cossack settlement, which provides views from above.

Choosing the right focus for your stay

When exploring the parks, their size, plant diversity, and landscaped areas offer different points of interest. Those interested in history can compare the collection at the museum reserve with the exhibition on the Strategic Missile Forces. A beekeeping excursion with honey tasting is another distinct activity.
