Mníchova Lehota offers two distinct focuses for planning a trip: hikes in the mountainous landscape and historic sites. The cadastral area lies in the Strážovské vrchy and Považský Inovec mountain ranges. When planning a stay here, you can give these themes different weight: a hike with specific information about distance and difficulty, or churches, archaeological finds and local history.

Route 13 leads from Soblahov via Chata pod Ostrým vrchom to Mníchova Lehota. It is described as an easy 8-kilometre hike with 492 metres of elevation gain and a stated duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. Along the way, it passes through beech forests, by the limestone rock of Macková and down to Mníchova Lehota. It ends at the railway station. You can take the distance, elevation gain and duration into account together when planning the hike. Trail conditions and markings may change; check them before setting out.

Route 11 also starts at Mníchova Lehota railway station and leads via Inovec, Palúch and Selec. It is rated as moderate. The difference in difficulty offers a practical guide when choosing between the two hikes: Route 13 is considered easy, while Route 11 is moderate. There is also a starting point for hikes and ascents into the Považský Inovec massif at Motorest Radar. You can plan your return journey from Mníchova Lehota to Trenčín by train or bus; check the timetable for your visit.

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Mníchova Lehota was built in the mid-14th century and added to the Slovak register of immovable cultural monuments in 1963. Visible ruins of a monastery remain on Kostelec; they were mentioned in the canonical visitation of Bishop Vurum of Nitra in 1829. No walls remain there today. The two sites offer distinct historical points of reference and should not be confused with one another.

A filial church in Mníchova Lehota was consecrated on 27 May 2018 by Mons. Viliam Judák, Bishop of Nitra. Beside the church is a Lourdes grotto built from stones taken from a cave. Archaeological finds are also part of the area’s history: Neanderthal tools from the Middle Paleolithic were found in Mníchova Lehota. The traces mentioned here thus span a period from these early tools, through the construction of the church in the 14th century, to the consecration of the filial church in 2018.
