Accommodation in Tatranská Polianka
Tatranská Polianka brings together local history dating back to the 19th century, cultural landmarks, and hiking and cycling options. The village is accessible by train and road; the destinations and tours described vary in character and scope.

Local History and Cultural Sites
The beginnings of Tatranská Polianka date back to 1884, when Pavol Weszter, a wealthy farmer and butcher from Veľký Slavkov, built a hunting lodge next to the then municipal forester's lodge. In 1901, Michal Guhr Jr. brought his passion for skiing back from Davos, Switzerland. At his initiative, the first ski jump in the High Tatras was built at the mouth of the Velická dolina. The following year, Guhr founded a climatic sanatorium in Tatranská Polianka to treat tuberculosis and asthma. The hunting lodge, winter sports, and sanatorium thus represent different chapters in the village’s history.
The Chapel of the Seven Sorrows of Mary was established in the former post office building in 1994 and consecrated on December 10, 1995. In front of the chapel stands a carved wooden cross by Martin Gavalér. Its history is thus connected to a specific work of woodcarving. Visiting opportunities may vary; check the current opening arrangements in advance. In the adjacent forest park, a monument featuring a bust of V. Kýna, dating from 1949, marks a poet’s popular resting place.
Poliankovo and Digital Exhibition
Poliankovo is a digital gallery covering 600 m². Its projection surfaces cover up to 140 m²; technologies used include virtual reality, 3D projections, augmented reality, holograms, and shadow plays. The exhibition includes interactive elements and paintings by Slovak painter Lubomir Korenk enhanced with augmented reality. These digital and interactive exhibition elements complement the historical memorials in the chapel and forest park. Exhibition content may change; check the current program and opening details before visiting.
