If you are looking for a hotel in Granč-Petrovce, its churches, a manor house, a cycling route and a travertine hill provide concrete themes for your stay. The village can be reached via a turnoff from the E18 main road before the Branisko Tunnel. There are several options for your travel days: architectural history, a cycling route or a religious annual tradition. When visiting buildings used for religious purposes and the natural monument, be sure to check access and current information locally.

St. Martin’s churches from two building periods

The Renaissance Church of St. Martin was built in 1626. Its Renaissance side altar is dedicated to St. Martin and dates from 1635. The church is in good condition and continues to serve its religious purpose. If you would like to see the interior, please check access locally in advance.

A new Church of St. Martin was completed in 1994 after 16 months of construction. Its 25-metre-high tower is a landmark of the church and the municipality of Granč-Petrovce. Inside, a wooden relief of St. Martin is the dominant feature. Compared with the Renaissance church, the completion date and tower height mark a different building period. The shared name St. Martin refers here to two distinct churches, not a single building.

Manor house with a biographical connection

The Petróczyovský Manor House stands in the southwest of Granč-Petrovce. It was originally a late Baroque building from the second half of the 18th century. Štefan Petróczy, a prominent pioneer of helicopter construction who worked in Austria, was born there in 1876. Architectural history and biography come together in this building: its late Baroque origins belong to the period when the house was built, while Petróczy’s birth in 1876 provides a later link to the history of the village. The manor house currently accommodates an elementary art school. If you are considering visiting the interior, please check access locally in advance.

Cycling route and access

The blue-marked cycling route 2710 passes through Granč-Petrovce and forms part of a total 19.4-kilometre route between Dúbrava and Vyšný Slavkov. The distance refers to the entire route between these two places. Check current route conditions and signage before setting off. For travel planning, it is useful to distinguish between the two: the turnoff from the E18 concerns access to the village, while route 2710 passes through Granč-Petrovce.

Natural monument and religious annual tradition

The Sobotisko natural monument, a travertine hill, lies west of and above Granč-Petrovce. If you would like to visit it, check the current signage and applicable access rules beforehand. This will help you plan your visit in accordance with the information on site.

A tradition reported for 2024 is the annual pilgrimage of believers from Granč-Petrovce for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. If travelling for this occasion, check the date for the relevant year before planning your stay around it. The event is tied to a feast and a specific calendar year; the other highlights concern buildings, a cycling route and the local landscape.
