Nová Ves Nad Žitavou offers several reasons to visit: the Studnička pilgrimage site, historic religious and secular buildings, and opportunities for fishing and cycling. These themes also differ in what matters when planning a visit—for example, a pilgrimage date, a particular architectural history or the conditions for an activity.

Studnička and the pilgrimage days

The Studnička pilgrimage site lies in the western part of the municipality, between the Konopnice and Chrástočky fields. In the quiet valley of the Drevenica, a stone altar with a statue has stood since the time of the Marian apparition in Lourdes in 1858. The site also includes a Stations of the Cross built in 1993. The dates refer to different points in time: the altar is associated with the time of the Lourdes apparition, while the Stations of the Cross date from 1993.

The pilgrimage days at Studnička are held annually on the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, on 22 August. If you are planning your trip for a particular year, check the exact dates for that year. This will help you plan your visit around the stated feast day without conflating it with the site's historic buildings.

The Turecký most, an architectural landmark dating from the 15th century, also stands near the pilgrimage site, crossing the Drevenica stream. This means that a religious area and a historic structure from a different period are both highlights at the same named location. Visitors interested in the site's history can consider these different points of reference separately.

Manor houses, church and protected area

The architectural history of the village spans several periods. The Baroque manor house at the crossroads was built by Count Jozef Berchtold in the early 18th century. It is distinct from the Neoclassical manor house of the Klobušický family in Nová Ves Nad Žitavou, which was built in 1872 and surrounded by a park. The two buildings thus represent different architectural styles and periods of construction.

The Church of St Thomas the Apostle is a Baroque-Classical church dating from 1789. Its main altar is a masonry work in the Classical style from the first half of the 19th century. The painting of St Thomas on the altar dates from the mid-19th century. The construction date of the church, the period when the altar was made and the date of the painting each refer to a different historical layer.

The natural heritage includes Novoveský park, which is designated as a protected area. Together with the manor houses and the church, it creates a picture of the village where protected nature and architectural history appeal to different interests.

Fishing and cycling

The 7-hectare reservoir near Nová Ves Nad Žitavou is used for fishing. Its bottom is slightly irregular and covered with silt deposits; the water is 100 to 200 cm deep. Fish found there include carp, zander, grass carp, pike, catfish, crucian carp and bream. If you are planning a fishing trip, check the fishing regulations and the areas where fishing is permitted beforehand.

For a cycling trip, the green-marked Route 5136 connects Slepčany, Malé Chyndice, Veľké Chyndice and Nová Ves Nad Žitavou. In Slepčany, it begins at a junction with the red-marked long-distance cycling route 045, the Požitavská Cycling Route.
