Discover Belá: Little Fatra and Belský skaly
Accommodation in Belá
Belá is part of the Little Fatra and offers a destination for hikers and climbers at Belský skaly. The mountain range is located in the Western Carpathians. A marked trail leads to viewpoints, and a campsite along the Varínka offers various types of accommodation. Natural areas and buildings also provide further points of interest during your stay.
Landscape and nature around Belá
Belá is part of the Little Fatra, a mountain range in the Western Carpathians. Part of the municipality lies within the Little Fatra National Park. This distinction is useful for understanding the area: the Little Fatra refers to the mountain range, while the National Park designation applies specifically to part of the municipality.
The Veľká Bránica Nature Reserve is also located within the municipality. Thus, both the mountainous landscape and a specifically named nature reserve are among Belá’s natural features. When choosing a destination for an outing, you can distinguish this broader landscape from individual places, such as Belský skaly as a hiking and climbing destination.
Hiking and climbing at Belský skaly
The Belské skaly above Belá in the Little Fatra are made of limestone and dolomite. They are a destination for climbers and hikers. The rocks thus combine two different interests with a clearly identified geological feature: you can admire Belský skaly as a rocky landscape or choose it as a hiking destination.
For hikers, a marked trail leads to three secured viewpoints offering views of the surrounding area. The number of viewpoints gives the trail a specific destination; the viewpoints themselves are a distinct part of the experience, alongside the geological character of the rocks. The Belský skaly area is accessible from Belá.
In 2015, Belské skaly was also made accessible to ordinary hikers. This date describes the opening at that time and does not automatically reflect current trail conditions. Before your visit, therefore, check the current conditions on the trail when planning your outing.
For travel by bus, the Belá, Bránica stop is a useful landmark. It is by the Bránica, rázcestie signpost and provides access to the route to Belský skaly. If you plan to travel by bus, check the timetable in advance and include the stop in your plans.
Campsite and accommodation options
A campsite stretches along the Varínka River between Belá and Terchová. A cycling route runs directly through the campsite. This gives you different activity options to consider: the marked hiking trail to the viewpoints at Belský skaly and a cycling route through the campsite grounds.
At the campsite, you can stay in a tent, your own caravan, a rented cabin or a bungalow. The options differ according to whether you bring your own camping accommodation or rent a cabin; a bungalow is also among the options listed. When considering what type of accommodation suits you, you can distinguish these camping options from looking for a hotel.
Church and chapel
A church was built on the outskirts of Belá in 1683. A cemetery is located around the church in Belá. The date places the construction of the church in the history of the area; the cemetery is another named point of interest around the building.
In Kubíková, the Parish of Belá maintains the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, dating from 1974. The church on the outskirts of Belá and the chapel in Kubíková thus provide two clearly distinct historical points of reference: a church from 1683 and a chapel from 1974.
