Ráztoka lies in a valley basin of the Nízke Tatry. Hradisko, historic religious buildings and nearby trails offer different ways to explore the area’s history and landscape. If you are looking for hotels in Ráztoka, you can plan your trip according to whether you are particularly interested in cultural history, views or trails in the surrounding area.

Landscape in the Valley Basin

The village is surrounded by the mountains of Farkašovo, Hradisko and Pod šípom. Since 15 July 2026, Ráztoka has been within the protection zone of Nízke Tatry National Park. Nearby, Ráztocká hoľa offers views from its summit and ridge of the main ridge of the Low Tatras and, to the south, the Horehronská kotlina. The village’s location and its surroundings should be distinguished: the valley basin describes Ráztoka, while the views mentioned are from Ráztocká hoľa in the nearby area.

Hradisko and Historic Buildings

Hradisko is a national cultural monument and an elevated settlement site in the form of a hillfort. There are traces of settlement from the Bronze Age, the later Iron Age and the Middle Ages. The finds thus point to several phases of settlement and make Hradisko an archaeological point of reference for the history of the village.

The chapel “kaplnka Sedembolestnej Panny Márie” was built in 1942 on the site of a former chapel dating from the 14th century. The church “Kostol Navštívenia Panny Márie” in Ráztoka dates from 1840. It is a single-nave building with a semicircular chancel and a wooden roof turret. These technical terms describe different aspects: “single-nave” refers to the floor plan, the chancel is the altar area, and the roof turret is a structure on the roof.

Lace-making is also part of the village’s history: some of the population made lace. This craft adds another aspect of life in the past in Ráztoka to its archaeological and religious heritage.
