Predajná lies in the valley of the Jasenský stream, surrounded by the Low Tatras to the north and the Slovak Ore Mountains to the south. Themes for a stay include protected natural areas, as well as religious and technical heritage. If you are looking for a hotel in Predajná, you can start planning around nature, architectural history or a specific event date.

Natural areas with distinct features

Predajnianske vodopády is an 11.70-hectare natural monument. It protects cascading waterfalls, rock fields, and preserved plant and animal communities of the submontane zone. A marked trail in the Predajnianske Čelno valley leads to the waterfalls. If you plan to take this trail, check the trail conditions locally.

Predajnianska slatina has a different ecological focus: this 11.35-hectare nature reserve protects wetland communities with protected and endangered plant and animal species. Unlike the waterfalls, where cascades, rocks and submontane communities are the focus, this area centres on wetland habitats.

A third nature-related attraction is Jajkovská sutina. This 50.91-hectare natural monument protects naturally formed scree slopes in the Slovak Ore Mountains. Protected-area designations also differ within the municipality: part of Predajná’s northern outskirts lies in the buffer zone of the Low Tatras National Park, while the southern part lies in the buffer zone of the Poľana Protected Landscape Area.

Religious buildings and technical monuments

The present-day church in Predajná was built between 1605 and 1612 in the late Gothic style. A Calvary with a church and four chapels was established on Hrádok hill; they were consecrated in 1873. On 15 September, the Calvary becomes the site of the parish’s largest indulgence feast. Pilgrims from the surrounding parishes attend the celebration.

The Predajná watermill, with its millrace, is located on Bečov Street and is a national cultural monument. Its technical milling equipment is particularly rare in Slovakia for being preserved so completely. Kelemenov tunel is also a technical monument and lies within the Predajnianske vodopády protected area. It is considered the only tunnel in Central Europe located on a forest road.

Traditions, events and getting there

The local history also includes the tradition associated with Hrb: the mountain was regularly climbed from the 1950s onwards, and by the late 1990s this tradition had developed into a larger public event. The Predajná Biathlon Club holds biathlon events at the Šimáň shooting range in Predajná. The dates of these events vary. For planning purposes, the religious feast day on 15 September is therefore a fixed date, unlike the variable biathlon event dates.

Predajná has a railway stop with published arrival and departure times. The timetable is valid from 16 March to 12 December 2026. If you are travelling by train, check the times that apply to your specific travel date.
