Strejnicu brings together landmarks of local history and a history of aviation. The village is home to an Orthodox church and the Troiță Nicolae Iorga memorial cross. Southwest of the village lies Tumulul de la Strejnicu – T4; another point of interest is Aeroclubul Gh. Bănciulescu – Strejnicu and its airfield. These themes offer different starting points for deciding the purpose of your trip.

Church, memorial cross, and tumulus

The Orthodox church “Biserica Sf. Ierah Nicolae” is located in Strejnicu and dates to 1864. This date provides a specific historical reference for the church. Also in the village is the Troiță Nicolae Iorga, a memorial cross. Strejnicu therefore brings together two different local landmarks: a religious building and a memorial bearing a specific name. Tumulul de la Strejnicu – T4 adds an archaeological point of interest to this picture. It lies 250 meters southwest of Strejnicu. This distance places it in relation to the village and distinguishes its location from the two sites within the village.

Milestones in aviation history

Aeroclubul “Gheorghe Banciulescu” was founded in 1936 to promote aviation and train pilots and technicians. The flight school in Strejnic reopened in 1948. In 1952, training for sport parachutists began there. The years mark different milestones: the aeroclub’s founding was followed by the flight school’s reopening and the start of another field of training. Strejnicu’s aviation history therefore extends beyond a single founding date.

The 2021–2027 program includes theoretical and practical flight and parachuting training using light civil aircraft. The training activities described are intended for employees and registered athletes. For the same period, the municipal strategy also mentions flight instruction and competitions. If you are interested in taking part, ask the aeroclub about current dates and opportunities to participate.

Getting around and finding accommodation

The grounds and airfield of Aeroclubul Gh. Bănciulescu – Strejnicu lie north-northeast of Strejnicu. Access to the aeroclub is from DN 1A via DJ 129, which connects the Ploiești-Vest district with Strejnicu. Check the current route and road conditions before setting out, as both can change. This lets you include the drive to the aeroclub as a separate part of your trip planning. The tumulus lies 250 meters southwest of Strejnicu, while the aeroclub grounds and airfield are north-northeast of the village, in different directions.

Then compare the hotels actually on offer according to your personal criteria. This keeps the purpose of your trip clear while you choose accommodation to suit your own requirements.
