Accommodation in Leordeni
When choosing a hotel in Leordeni, it may help to consider the areaās highlights. The commune in ArgeČ County brings together a Neo-Romanian memorial villa, churches from various building periods, and the Lahovary-Gussi estate ensemble. It is also home to a wooden church with a monastic past, several types of forest, floodplain meadows, and a historic autumn food culture. You can plan your stay around a theme: the Lipatti memorial, religious buildings, or the landscape.
The Lipatti Memorial in CiolceČti
The Casa MemorialÄ āDinu Lipattiā in CiolceČti is a Neo-Romanian-style villa. Constantin Lipatti, violinist and father of Dinu Lipatti, built it between 1938 and 1942. The construction period sets the house apart from the communeās much older churches and connects its architecture with Dinu Lipattiās family history.
The ExpoziČia MemorialÄ āDinu Lipattiā is also located in CiolceČti. It can be visited Monday through Sunday, from 09:00 to 17:00. Check these opening hours again before your visit.
Churches: Dedications, Building Phases, and Founding
The wooden church in GlĆ¢mbocata-Deal (CÄlugÄriČa) dates from 1746 and is dedicated to āNaČterea Domnuluiā. It is a monument of national architectural interest and served as the church of a nunsā skete. Its construction date, dedication, and former religious function offer different clues for understanding this building.
The present-day church in Leordeni-Cretulescu was built between 1858 and 1861, replacing an older church dating from 1745. The dates therefore refer to two building phases: 1745 for the predecessor building and 1858ā1861 for the present-day church. Its trefoil-shaped floor plan comprises the sanctuary, naos, pronaos, and porch. Two towers rise above the pronaos and naos.
The church in Leordeni-Golescu was founded on August 15, 1835, by the great boyar Iordache Golescu. This date marks its founding. The historical details of the churches therefore differ: at Glâmbocata-Deal, the dedication and former function are central; at Cretulescu, the focus is on the succession of two buildings; and at Golescu, on a precisely dated act of foundation.
The Estate Ensemble and Landscape
The Lahovary-Gussi estate ensemble is associated with the period from the 17th to the 19th century; it includes a park dating from the 19th century. A narrower time span is therefore given for the park than for the ensemble as a whole. Together, the estate ensemble and park form another cultural and historical highlight alongside the churches and the Lipatti memorial.
Vegetation in Leordeni includes forests of oak, sessile oak, and Turkey oak, as well as floodplain meadows with alders and willows. This landscape perspective complements the architectural history with natural habitats. If you are interested in vegetation as well as religious and manor-house architecture, it offers a distinct consideration when choosing a theme for your stay.
Autumn Food Culture
Leordeniās historic autumn food culture included grapes, ČuicÄ, and wine; these products were also offered for sale. This adds a seasonal perspective on local products and their sale to the architectural and landscape themes.
