At the southern tip of Tjøme lies Verdens Ende, where the panoramic room offers views of the archipelago, Færder Lighthouse and the national park landscape. Alongside this scenic experience, Tjøme has a neo-Gothic church, an outdoor stage in a disused quarry, as well as horseback riding and a Via Ferrata. When choosing a hotel, it is worth first considering which of these different experiences you want to shape your stay.

Verdens Ende: views and visitor centre

Verdens Ende is at the southern tip of Tjøme. The Færder National Park Visitor Centre has engaging exhibitions; its 360° panoramic room showcases the Vippefyr, Færder Lighthouse, the archipelago and the national park landscape. The Vippefyr at Verdens Ende is a replica built in 1932. The guest harbour has a lit breakwater that protects boats from the waves. If you plan to visit the visitor centre, check its current offerings before your trip.

Horseback riding and Via Ferrata

Stall Verdens Ende on Tjøme offers a two-hour horseback ride through Moutmarka in Færder National Park. The provider’s booking details may change, so confirm them in advance. The Via Ferrata Tjøme is a four-hour route with six different rappelling stations and a final zipline. Aktiv Fritid Tjøme requires advance booking for Via Ferrata activities, both for individuals and groups. Before your trip, check booking details and route conditions with the provider.

Church and outdoor stage

Tjøme Church is a neo-Gothic long church built of stone and brick in 1866. It stands on the site of a former medieval church. The location therefore combines a 19th-century building with an older church site.

On Brøtsø, near Tjøme, is Bruddet, an outdoor stage carved into the rock in a disused quarry. The stage hosts concerts, theatre, dance and art. As the programme may change, check current dates if you are planning your trip around an event.

Getting there and further guidance

Bus route 02 runs from Tønsberg to Sundene. There, change to route 022, which goes to Verdens Ende. Check the connection and timetable before you set off. Mostranda Beach is on the southwestern side of Tjøme and can be reached via Helgerødveien. As access information may change, it is advisable to check local access before your visit.

In the wider region of the outer Oslofjord, Færder National Park was established to protect coastal landscapes, ecosystems, geology and cultural heritage on land and at sea. This conservation mission therefore covers both nature and cultural heritage on either side of the waterline.

Plan your hotel stay

When planning your hotel stay on Tjøme, you can consider the experiences you have planned together with the preparations each requires. Via Ferrata requires advance booking; for horseback riding, check the booking details; and for the bus to Verdens Ende, check the timetable.
