Lakselvbukt: Nature and Hiking Trails
Accommodation in Lakselvbukt
Nature and hiking trails take center stage in Lakselvbukt. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between the protected coastal habitat, the marked routes, and the seasonal options. Destinations range from the salt marsh complex and its birdlife to the family-friendly Rypdalsrunden and hikes near the BlĂĄisen Glacier.
Nature Reserve by the Bay and River Mouth
The Lakselvbukt Nature Reserve covers about 563 dekar. Around 126 dekar is land, and 437 dekar is sea. The marine area is therefore significantly larger than the land area. The protected area includes a large salt marsh complex and its associated birdlife. The landscape lies in a well-sheltered bay with a river mouth in the inner part of a fjord. Coastal and wetland habitats are therefore the main focus here, while the hiking trails offer a different perspective on Lakselvbukt.
Hiking Trails and Tours in Lakselvbukt
There is an extensive network of hiking trails in and around Lakselvbukt, with boardwalks, bridges, and other infrastructure. The trails run in and along the Lyngsalpan mountain range in Tromsø Municipality. They are marked and signposted according to the national marking standard. These markings can help you navigate when planning your hikes; however, check local trail conditions before setting out.
Rypdalsrunden is a family-friendly hike. Langdalsfossen and Bajadusbrua are located along this loop. The BlĂĄisen hike, which leads near the glacier, is a different route. A trail overview from 2019 lists a trailhead sign and a summit sign, as well as markings along the BlĂĄisen route; check local conditions before your hike. Another marked route leads to a 1,000-meter-high summit with impressive views of the Lyngsalpan.
The season can also affect your choice. Lakselvbukt has 24 TellTur checkpoints that are intended for registration; hikes can be registered with the TellTur initiative during the summer half of the year. As grooming status can change, check current information about track conditions before a winter hike.
