Festival and concerts in Førde
The Førdefestivalen is Scandinavia’s largest festival of acoustic folk and world music. Førdehuset is the heart of the festival and its main venue. It is centrally located in Førde, just a few minutes’ walk from the bus station. The building has several concert halls, and the ticket office is in the exhibition hall. The concert halls and ticket office serve different purposes, but are in the same building. This makes it easy to distinguish between the festival venue and the ticket sales area.
Viewpoints and hiking trails
Vidsyn is a modern viewpoint on the trail from Sentrum Sør up to Hafstadfjellet, at Lysthaugen 2A in Førde. Hafstadkleiva offers a more specific route description: the hike starts in the centre of Førde, at the junction of Fjellvegen (E39) and Langebruvegen near the town hall. More than 180 steps lead to Hafstadfjellet, at an elevation of 706 metres, with panoramic views over Førde. This distinction is useful if you want to plan your time outdoors according to the type of destination: Vidsyn is a viewpoint along the uphill trail; Hafstadkleiva describes a climb with a named starting point and summit destination. Seasonal trail maintenance may change; take this into account before setting out on a climb.
The Gyttakvia day-trip cabin offers a different point of reference for elevation. It is about 250 metres above sea level, above the residential area of Vieåsen in eastern Førde, and has views of the city. It is located roughly one-third of the way to the viewpoint on Viafjellet. Unlike Hafstadkleiva, whose trail climbs more than 180 steps to Hafstadfjellet at an elevation of 706 metres, Gyttakvia is described by its approximate position on the way to Viafjellet. The two descriptions therefore offer different reference points: the climb to the summit for Hafstadkleiva, and the location of a cabin along the way to a viewpoint for Gyttakvia.
