Jevnaker offers a variety of reasons to visit: glassmaking and industrial history, art, and activities by the water. When planning your hotel stay, it helps to first decide which experiences you want to shape your visit. Visiting hours for some attractions vary seasonally, while others are seasonal or have changing tour schedules. If a particular experience is a priority, check its current visiting arrangements before setting your travel dates.

Glass history to watch and take part in

Hadeland Glassverk is Norway’s oldest continuously operating industrial company. Since 1762, glassblowers in Jevnaker have shaped glowing glass into unique products. At the Glass Hut, you can watch glassblowers transform hot molten glass into vases, art glass and decorative objects from Monday to Friday. Demonstration times may vary seasonally, so bear this in mind when planning your visit.

At Hadeland Glassverk, visitors can also blow their own glass together with professional glassblowers. This opportunity is available seasonally, so it is worth checking the current offer before your visit. Watching and taking part yourself are two different ways to experience glassmaking. Art galleries and exhibitions add to the visitor experience; their contents may change. If you are especially interested in glass design, you can take these aspects into account together when planning your trip.

Industrial history, art and architecture

Kistefos includes industrial history as part of its visitor offer. Guided tours explore its history, sculpture park and art. They are offered in Norwegian and English; languages and scheduling may change. Kistefos also includes a sculpture park. As access arrangements may change, check the latest access information before travelling.

The Twist is a gallery, bridge and sculpture all in one, twisting across a 60-metre span over the Randselva. Unlike the tours, which bring together history, the sculpture park and art, The Twist can be understood through these three functions and its architectural span. Jevnaker thus offers different perspectives on art and industrial history, without them providing the same visitor experience.

Activities by the water

Randsfjord Badepark is a seasonal inflatable water park covering more than 3,500 square metres. It is located at Haugerstranda in Jevnaker. The park includes a mini park for children aged 4 to 8 and a large park for children aged 7 and over. The age ranges overlap at ages 7 and 8, so they are not two completely separate age groups. As the park operates seasonally, check the dates before your trip if the water park is important to your plans.

Flyt FjordSauna offers a different kind of experience: this floating, wood-fired sauna is located at Bergertjernet near the marina in Jevnaker and can accommodate up to ten people. The two waterside offerings can therefore be distinguished by type: the inflatable park, with its specified age ranges, versus a sauna visit for a group of up to ten people. Check the current offer details before your visit.

Coordinate your visit dates with your hotel search

The different scheduling conditions are important when choosing your travel dates: at the Glass Hut, you can watch glassblowers at work from Monday to Friday, although demonstration times may vary seasonally. Blowing your own glass and visiting Randsfjord Badepark are seasonal; the Kistefos tour schedule may also change. If you are travelling to Jevnaker for one of these experiences, check that the visiting arrangements match your preferred dates.
