Sandvik’s landscape and Vefsn

The Sandvik ecological locality is situated in Sandvikbukt on Fustvatnet in Vefsn Municipality. It is classified as a grey alder–bird cherry forest of type F05, specifically F0501 – riparian forest. In the wider destination of Vefsn, high mountains, fjords, caves and rivers alternate. The Vefsna is considered a good salmon river.

Mosjøen is also part of the larger destination of Vefsn. There, the Vefsna and Skjerva rivers meet before flowing into the Vefsnfjord. Several listed buildings stand in Mosjøen’s oldest district, Sjøgata, which is a major attraction. The Vefsn Museum offers a historical walking tour there, providing insight into Mosjøen’s trading history. Byparken in Mosjøen is a cultural and historical site that was protected under the Cultural Heritage Act in 2009. It is also a public park open to everyone and serves as an open-air museum.

It leads from the Vefsna River, just outside the centre of Mosjøen, to the summit of Øyfjellet.
