Cultural Heritage in Øresvik

Øresvik has a self-service library lending station. Check the municipality’s current operating information before using it, as details may change.

Gammelstua in Øresvika is among the more recent cultural heritage sites. At Øresvik farm, the building was originally a large boathouse; around the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, it was moved from Sørfjorden to Øresvik. Its exact year of construction cannot be determined with certainty. According to the current owner’s grandmother, the building is said to be over 250 years old.

Molvika, too, tells of earlier use by several farms: a mill was built there in the 19th century and was also used by surrounding farms. A new mill was built at the site where foundation stones, a mill paddle and millstones had been located. The information highlights both the shared use and the connection between the new mill and the remains of the earlier mills.

Sandvika was once a crofter’s holding under Stensland farm. The small house standing there was formerly moved from Tømmerdalen. Gammelstua is associated with a large boathouse and its relocation from Sørfjorden; for Sandvika, the defining historical details are its former connection to Stensland farm and the relocation of the house from Tømmerdalen.

Hike to Brenneshovudet

The trail to Brenneshovudet, also called Brenneshodet, starts either at the school in Øresvik or at the junction of Tonnesveien and Øresvikveien in Rødøy Municipality. When planning your time, distinguish the estimated ascent and descent times from the total time, which also includes time at the summit. In the forest, the trail is marked on posts and trees; at the summit, markings on rocks and small cairns show the way. Brenneshodet is part of Polarsirkeltrimmen.
