Steine combines the character of a fishing village with culture, sport, and nature. Bø consists of the merged fishing villages of Steine, Skagen, and Vinje. Specific topics to consider when planning your trip include the memorial stone in Steine Park, Bøhallen, several illuminated ski trails, and marked hiking trails. The wider Bø destination offers additional cultural and scenic attractions.

Fishing Village and Memorial Site

A memorial stone in Steine Park commemorates fishermen who lost their lives. This site connects the settlement of the fishing villages with a specific place of remembrance in Steine.

Culture and Facilities at Bøhallen

Bøhallen in Steine, Bø i Vesterålen, is a meeting place for film, culture, and experiences. Its changing program includes film screenings, concerts, and events throughout the year. The venue houses a cinema, a cultural hall, a youth club, a sports hall, and a swimming hall under one roof. It brings together a range of cultural and recreational activities. The program and individual facilities may change; check current schedules before visiting.

In the Wider Bø Destination

The wider Bø destination combines exposed ocean coastline, sheltered skerries, white sandy beaches, bird cliffs, wetlands, and alpine peaks. The coastline is 294 kilometres long and deeply indented by fjords; steep, rugged mountains define the landscape, particularly in the northwest and east.

Nyke/Tussen Nature Reserve protects one of the largest and most geomorphologically well-developed boulder beaches in Nordland. The reserve includes a continuous boulder beach stretching 3.5 kilometres. In Vinjesjøen, Friluftsgalleri displays all 36 sculptures from the Skulpturlandskap Nordland project. “Mannen fra havet” is also located in Vinjesjøen; it is about a 400-metre walk from the parking area.

Cultural heritage sites and archaeological sites are also among Bø’s attractions: Bø kirke contains five late-medieval sculptures from Lübeck, and stone cists, burial mounds, and standing stones are visible at the Føre site. At low tide, you can reach Svinøya on foot. It is home to Northern Norway’s largest registered collection of Iron Age burial mounds.
