Kjerknesvågen – Jekta Pauline and Cultural Trails
Accommodation in Kjerknesvågen
Kjerknesvågen combines maritime history with marked trails and seasonal offerings at the quay. When looking for a hotel for your trip, you can first consider whether Jekta Pauline, specific trail destinations or the coastal culture of the Boat Gathering will shape your stay. The following topics will help you plan your travel dates around your interests.
Jekta Pauline and coastal culture
The clinker-built Jekta Pauline is the last sailing jekt in the world and has its home port in Kjerknesvågen. On selected Sundays in summer, visitors can join a sailing trip aboard her. Check the dates and availability for the relevant season. The Boat Gathering takes place in Kjerknesvågen on the first weekend of July. It brings together coastal culture, dance and seafood, attracting boating enthusiasts from Inderøy and across Trøndelag. Individual programme items may vary.
Marked trails and specific destinations
The trails can be distinguished by their starting points and destinations. From Bøl, a marked trail leads to the shelter at Stormyra and continues to Glømstad and Skjemstadvatnet; another marked trail leads from Ingjalshålån to Bøl. The circular trail around Kjerknestangen runs along the sea, through forest and across fields to Brunsberget, where there is a usable shelter. There is also a usable shelter at Skjemstadvatnet.
The route from Lilleby to Skjemstadvatnet is just under four kilometres long. A marked cultural trail at Svemyra has several benches and information boards. There is also a usable barbecue area at Svemyra, and the cultural trails in Kjerknesvågen offer several places to rest.
Planning a visit to the quay and during the season
Kjerknesvågen Kai is a stop on the Golden Road on Inderøy. During the summer season, there is a kiosk and a café serving coffee, ice cream and light snacks; from there, you can enjoy views of the fjord. Check local opening days before planning your visit.
