Våg is a good choice for travelers who want to combine their stay with time outdoors. From Våg, you can walk to both Bergsfjellet and Osbakken. These offer two distinct experiences: a trail to a mountain destination and a recreational area with a beach and sports facilities. Osbakken brings several facilities together in one place; Bergsfjellet offers a hiking experience. The wider destination of Aure also includes cultural, historical and landscape attractions.

Hiking around Våg

The Bergsfjellet trail starts at a parking lot near Løfallbekken. From there, a clearly marked path climbs via Løfallia to Bergsvatnet. It then continues along a long mountain ridge to Bergsfjellet. The route therefore has two distinct sections: first, the ascent via Løfallia to Bergsvatnet, followed by the stretch along the ridge. You can also reach Bergsfjellet on foot from Våg.

From Løfall, a trail initially follows the same path as the one to Bergsfjellet. Then follow the Fjordruta from the foot of Bergsfjellet around Bergsvatnet, before turning off toward the summit of Rostolen. This route links several named landmarks and differs from the route description that goes directly to Bergsfjellet by branching off toward Rostolen.

Near Våg, Bergsfjellet Rundt is a long-running mountain running event. The race is considered suitable for the whole family, and there is a refreshment station at Vasslivatnet during the event. If you are planning your trip around Bergsfjellet Rundt, check the event dates in advance.

Beach and sports in Osbakken

You can also walk to Osbakken from Våg. The recreational area has a beach, a volleyball court, football goals and a restroom building. This makes Osbakken a different kind of destination from the trails to Bergsfjellet: the beach and sports facilities are all in one place, while the Bergsfjellet routes run via Løfallia, Bergsvatnet or the mountain ridge. Facility information may change; if needed, check what is currently available on site before your visit.

More places to visit in the wider destination of Aure

In the wider destination of Aure, the Kråksundet Sjøbruksmuseum has collections of equipment and objects documenting coastal culture and the Geitbåten boat. Støttepunkt Melland was built in the winter of 1943/44 as a coastal fort by the German occupying forces on the outer side of the island of Skardsøya, and is now considered an accessible excursion destination in Aure. These places offer a different focus from the hiking and recreational opportunities in Våg.

Aure kyrkje can also be placed in a particular historical context: the wooden church dates from 1924, and its altarpiece is dated to 1460. It is the largest wooden church in Møre og Romsdal county. Part of the Kofoedsamlinga is displayed in a dedicated room in Aure's old vicarage. It consists of old household items and tools donated to Aure municipality by the midwife Astrid Kofoed.

Among the landscape attractions in Aure is the Mellandsvågen nature reserve, with an adjacent wildlife protection area. Husfesta is an abandoned coastal farm at the tip of Ertvågøya, with old buildings and a cultural landscape; the easiest way to reach Husfesta is by boat. When planning your trip, you can distinguish between the specific trails and recreational area in Våg and the cultural and landscape attractions specifically located in Aure.
