Lampeland: Swimming Spots, Winter Routes and Cycling
Accommodation in Lampeland
If you’re looking for a hotel in Lampeland, you can plan your stay around the activities: swimming in the centre of town, disc golf in the park, winter routes or a 29-kilometre cycling tour. The destinations differ in location, season and route format.
Swimming in the Centre of Lampeland
Klufterhølen is in the centre of Lampeland, along the lower stretch of the Lyngdalselva. The popular swimming spot is well equipped for all user groups and easy to reach with a pram, wheelchair, bicycle or on foot. This makes it easy to factor the swimming spot into your plans for the town, regardless of how you get there. There is another landmark that helps orient you along the river: just north of Lampeland, the Lyngdalselva flows into the Numedalslågen. Klufterhølen is in the centre of town, while the confluence is to the north.
Disc Golf and Ski Trails at Stevningsmogen Fritidspark
Stevningsmogen Fritidspark is just north of Lampeland centre. Children and adults can play on the disc golf course. The park also has illuminated ski trails with loops of 1, 2, 3 and 6 kilometres. The shortest and longest loops differ considerably in length, with two other distances in between. The park also has a toboggan slope and a ski play slope. Grooming and snow conditions vary by season, and use of both slopes depends on snow conditions. Check the conditions before you go.
Snowshoe Routes to Bjønnåsen and Jørnsplassen
There are long, medium and short routes to Bjønnåsen, each starting and ending in Lampeland. Traditional smallholdings, dense forest and open landscapes shape the scenery along the snowshoe routes. You’ll also see tracks made by hares, deer and foxes, as well as snow-covered waterways. On the long route, after about 30 metres, turn right twice towards a hunting tower; the tower is considered the highest point on the route. The approximate distance and the two turns provide specific guidance along the route.
Jørnsplassen is a traditional Norwegian smallholding owned by Lampeland Hotell. Visitors can take a break on the veranda. The snowshoe route there starts on foot in front of Lampeland Hotell and climbs through the forest to the farm. For this winter route, it’s a good idea to check the snow conditions before setting off. This lets you consider the farm and the route as two connected but distinct aspects of a stay: the farm as a place to take a break, and the route as a path through the forest.
Cycling Tour and Bicycle Storage
The 29-kilometre cycling tour runs from Lampeland via Flesberg to Vatnebrynvatnet, with three swimming spots along the route. While Klufterhølen is a swimming spot in the centre of town, the cycling tour connects three swimming spots along its route. Check the route and access before setting off. At Lampeland Hotell, bicycles can be securely stored both outdoors and indoors. If you depend on this option, confirm the current arrangements before your trip.
Flesberg as a Wider Destination
The wider destination of Flesberg offers other themes that complement the local perspective. County Road 40 from Larvik via Kongsberg to Geilo passes through Flesberg. Flesberg Stave Church is a stave church in the municipality of Flesberg in Buskerud, located on the edge of the town centre. It dates from the second half of the 12th century or the first half of the 13th century. Juvefossen has a 50-metre free fall; take care near the edge. The Vinoren silver mines west of Svene were in operation until 1956. Flesberg thus brings together distinct regional themes: road access, church architecture, a waterfall and mining history.
