Lillesand between Coastal Route and Cultural Heritage

Lillesand can be explored through a range of travel interests: Blindleia is an inner coastal route, the Vestlandske Hovedvei is for hiking and cycling, and there are also specific cultural and natural attractions. Coastal Route and Trails Between Places

Blindleia is a 20-kilometre inner coastal route from Lillesand towards Kristiansand. You can experience it on an excursion boat, a charter boat, or a private boat. Choosing the type of boat is therefore part of the planning. In summer, the M/S Øya follows a fixed route through Blindleia between Lillesand and Kristiansand. On land, the Vestlandske Hovedvei is now a hiking and cycling trail between Lillesand and Grimstad. Cultural Sites in Lillesand and Høvåg

The Lillesand by- og sjøfartsmuseum is located in the former Carl-Knudsen-Gården, Nygårdsgt. 1, in the centre of Lillesand. Its precise location gives the museum a clear connection to the town centre; the building’s former name also records its previous use as Carl-Knudsen-Gården.

Bronseplassen, Norway’s oldest reconstructed Bronze Age farm, is located in Høvåg, in the municipality of Lillesand. Well-marked nature trails lead to a viewpoint overlooking the Skagerrak. This destination brings together two distinct elements: the reconstructed farmstead as a link to the Bronze Age, and a trail leading to a view of the sea. Saltholmen fyrstasjon in the municipality of Lillesand is a listed visitor lighthouse. Its history can be traced through the dates 1882 and 1952: the light station was established in 1882; in 1952, it was decommissioned and unmanned, and the lighthouse was replaced by a light mounted on a frame. Its status as a visitor attraction and its former nautical function are different aspects of the same place. The sequence of events describes a change in the function of the light station.

Hiking Trails and Coastal Landscapes

Several routes to Fløresteinen are signposted; signs at each trail junction indicate the distances. Thirty imaginative wooden figures are hidden along the trails in the Flørenes forest. Here, finding your way and searching carefully go hand in hand: the signs show distances at the junctions, while the figures can be discovered along the trails.

Saltviga, a public coastal park on Justøya in Lillesand, offers a different landscape. There, sandy beach, rocks, and coastal scenery come together. Compared with the signposted trails at Fløresteinen, the coast itself is the defining feature here.
