Vinterbro: TusenFryd, Breivoll Farm and the Cultural Trail

When planning a stay in Vinterbro, your preferred activities—and, for some attractions, the time of year—are important considerations. The area combines the TusenFryd amusement park with water and outdoor activities at Breivoll Farm, ice sports and a cultural trail. You can tailor your stay to suit your interests, whether you prefer rides, activities by the fjord, ice sports or culture.

TusenFryd and BadeFryd

TusenFryd is located in Vinterbro, about 20 kilometres south of Oslo, at the junction of the E18 and E6. The amusement park offers more than 30 attractions for all age groups. Since the number of attractions may change as the park develops, it is worth checking the current selection if you have particular attractions in mind.

In summer, BadeFryd, TusenFryd’s water park, includes a lazy river, a swimming pool and a paddling pool. BadeFryd is a seasonal addition to the amusement park. If the water park is important to your plans, check the current opening times in advance.

Breivoll Farm: Fjord, paddling and outdoor activities

At Breivoll Farm, a coastal path runs along the fjord. Visitors can rent kayaks for activities on the water; organised paddling tours and courses are also offered in summer. The fjord path and paddling activities offer different ways to explore: you can discover the scenery on foot or choose an activity on the water.

The freely accessible outdoor areas at Breivoll Farm offer opportunities for play and ball games, as well as barbecue areas, lavvos and other easy-to-access outdoor activities for all age groups. The farm café serves homemade lunches, fresh pastries, soup, farm pizza and waffles. The café’s offerings may change. If you are planning to visit for a particular dish, check in advance whether it is currently available.

Ice sports at Vinterbro Ishall

Vinterbro Ishall rents out its ice rink to bandy teams throughout the season; many bandy teams train there, especially from August to November. The rink is also used as a training venue for figure skating. It is also suitable for hockey camps, tournaments and cups. If you are planning around a particular camp or tournament, confirm the specific date separately.

The ice rink therefore offers a different seasonal focus from the summer water activities at Breivoll Farm and BadeFryd: bandy teams use the ice throughout the season, while training is especially concentrated from August to November. This distinction is useful when planning a trip around a specific ice sports event.

Cultural trail and Stone Age finds

A cultural trail runs through an enchanted forest on the grounds of Breivoll Farm. The Nøstvedt find is near Vinterbro, about 500 metres from Vinterbrosentret. The area around Bunnefjorden, particularly between Pollen and Vinterbro, has a high density of Stone Age settlement finds. The cultural trail and archaeological finds offer different points of interest for visitors who want to explore the area’s cultural history alongside its recreational activities.

The wider destination of Ås provides additional regional context. Breivoll friområde has a coastline with many swimming beaches. Sherpatrappa is a destination for cycling and hiking; from the Sherpatrappene, you can walk to Breivoll and Svartskog and onwards to Hvervenbukta.
