When considering Ringaudai as a travel destination, nature, history, and local culture can each offer different points of interest. Botanical and historical sites are located nearby; Ringaudai itself also has cultural activities and a sculpture. The options range from a single tree with a precisely stated trunk circumference to a fortress with several construction phases and a botanical park with a large collection of woody plants.

Nature Sites and Views

Nearby Karvelių ąžuolas is a botanical natural heritage site in Lithuania. Its trunk circumference is more than seven meters. Nearby Pyplių piliakalnis offers a different landscape: from there, you can enjoy views of the Nemunas and the towers of Raudondvaris Church. Steps lead to the summit. The hill can also be included on a cycling route, as cyclists can visit Pyplių piliakalnis. These sites highlight different aspects of nature: a single tree designated as natural heritage, and a hill with views and a connection to a cycling route.

Nearby Obelynė Park covers about 6.5 hectares. Naturalist and professor Tadas Ivanauskas founded the botanical park on his estate in Akademija. Its collection includes more than 300 species and varieties of trees and shrubs; ginkgo and dawn redwood also grow in the park. Compared with the individual Karvelių ąžuolas, this represents a different botanical focus: a collection of woody plants rather than a single natural heritage site. When choosing what you would like to see, you can therefore distinguish between a notable tree and a park with a diverse collection.

Fortress History and Traditions

Nearby Fort I of the Kaunas Fortress is set up for visitors. Celebrations, guided tours, and educational activities with horses are held there. If you are planning a particular activity or guided tour, check the latest information before your visit. The fort’s construction history also spans several phases: Fort I was built between 1882 and 1889 and reconstructed from the late 19th to the early 20th century.

You can also encounter history at nearby Pyplių piliakalnis. According to local legends and Lithuanian historians Zenonas Ivinskis and Kazimieras Paunksnys, Pilėnai Castle, destroyed in 1336, may have stood there. The identification of the castle remains a possibility. The Jorė festival is also held on the hill. Views of the Nemunas and the towers of Raudondvaris Church also give the site a scenic perspective.

Culture and Local Activities

The “Dviračio skulptūra” sculpture in Ringaudai was created by sculptor Danielius Sodeika and architect Violeta Beigienė. The “Ringauda” folklore ensemble sings songs and helps pass on the region’s singing tradition. These examples represent different forms of cultural expression: a sculpture in the town and a singing tradition maintained by the community.

In addition to major annual events, the Ringaudai leisure hall organizes educational activities, civic initiatives, creative workshops, and meetings with local and other artists. Individual activities and dates may change; if you are planning to attend a particular event, check the current program. Nearby Pyplių ūkis offers educational programs on bread baking. The focus there is on hands-on activities related to bread, while the leisure hall brings together a variety of educational and cultural activities.

“Žaidimų namas” is a venue for children’s celebrations in Ringaudai. It hosts celebrations for children’s birthdays, school graduations, baptisms, and other family occasions. Together with the workshops, educational activities, and bread baking, this gives a varied picture of local activities, without equating these different offerings.
