Kadaga: Discover nature, parks and trails
Accommodation in Kadaga
If you’re planning a stay in Kadaga, you can organize your outings around different interests: swimming at Lake Kadaga, nature at Ūdensrožu Park, a walk, a cycling trip or a visit to Pērkonu ceplis. These destinations give the area several distinct points of interest. For planning, the main consideration is whether you prefer a circuit through the park, a longer cycling route or an arrangement agreed in advance.
Nature and swimming spot
Ūdensrožu Park is located in an area of wooded coastal dune habitats characteristic of the Piejūras lowland. Līņu Lake lies in the central part of the park. It covers 0.7 ha, is gradually becoming overgrown, and its shores are becoming marshy. A visit to the park therefore takes in both the lake’s setting and the wooded coastal dune landscape. If you’d like to include nature in your stay, you can use these two features as a guide for an outing. This area is equivalent to 7,000 square metres.
Kadaga has a swimming spot at Lake Kadaga. Swimming information may vary by season; check it for your planned travel dates.
On foot and by bike
The yellow circular trail in Ūdensrožu Park is 2.4 km long. Zaļais ceļš offers a different time and activity commitment: the 13.5 km one-way cycling route takes 1.5 to 2 hours. So when comparing the two, consider not only the distance but also the type of outing: a walk around the park or a one-way bike ride with an estimated duration.
In Ādaži Municipality, Zaļais ceļš runs along the left bank of the Gauja from the Gauja Bridge near Kadaga to Carnikava. You can access the route at several points and choose a start and end point to suit your itinerary. The time estimate applies to the one-way cycling route, so take that into account when planning. During one edition of the Veselības skrējiens, a 1–2 km cross-country run for strength and endurance also took place in Ūdensrožu Park.
Visits to Pērkonu ceplis
Pērkonu ceplis offers bread-making workshops, clay-modelling classes and painting masterclasses. On a bread-making tour, you’ll learn about the process from raw ingredients to a finished loaf. The classes focus on creative activities, while the tour highlights the production process. Groups of any age can also visit the ornamental garden; there is no limit on the number of participants. Individual visits must be arranged in advance. Confirm current visiting arrangements directly with the venue.
