Rāmava, with the Rāmavas-Depkina Manor House, is a specific address to consider when looking for accommodation. The Rāmavas (Depkina) manor offers overnight accommodation in twelve rooms of different sizes. The number of rooms indicates the scope of the offering; the different sizes provide an additional selection criterion. If room size is important to you, ask about availability for your preferred dates. Clarify booking details directly before making plans. You can therefore consider two aspects when choosing your destination: the specific room offering and the culturally and scenically distinctive location.

Manor House and History

The Depkina Manor House is a restored two-storey wooden building and, as the Rāmavas-Depkina Manor House, a cultural monument of national importance. “Two-storey” refers to the number of floors, while “wooden building” describes the construction; the monument status adds cultural and historical significance to this architectural classification. Restoration and monument status answer different questions: restoration concerns the building’s renovation, while monument status reflects its designation as cultural heritage. Garlībs Merķelis lived in the manor house from 1808 to 1850. His time living there therefore spanned more than four decades. A memorial stone to P. Lejiņš stands beside the manor house. Merķelis’ time living there and the memorial stone represent different historical connections: the biography of a resident of the house and a commemorative marker beside it.

Landscape and Water

The manor house is surrounded by a landscape park. The park includes several rare plant species, a small stream and historic trees, including particularly large and notable specimens. Thus, in addition to the building, the park offers its own landscape features, ranging from plants and trees to a watercourse. The Olek te flows through Rāmava, while the small stream is part of the manor house’s park surroundings.

Finding Your Way Around the Park

The pond sluices and the footbridge in the park have been restored. A path surfaced with pebbles leads from the footbridge to the manor house entrance. A municipal notice from June 2025 reported that improvement works had been completed. The bridge is therefore both a restored park feature and the starting point of this path.

Overnight Stays, Events and Guided Tours

The manor house offers rooms for seminars, summer camps, celebrations and photo shoots. These uses cater to different occasions; when making an inquiry, state the specific purpose and clarify room use in advance. Rooms for events and overnight accommodation are separate planning considerations: bedrooms are for overnight stays, while event rooms are for their respective purposes. If you need both, clarify the room option and room use separately for your dates. Guided tours of the Rāmavas-Depkina Manor House are available by prior arrangement. Ask in advance whether a time can be arranged, and treat booking a tour as a separate planning step alongside your room inquiry. This way, you can focus your preparations on what determines your trip: an overnight stay, an event or a guided visit.
