Aghios Petros is characterised by large, three-storey tower houses. The Tanos River flows east of the village, and Aghios Petros also has a network of locally mapped hiking trails. Trails lead from there to Mikri Tourla and Megali Tourla, which is considered the highest peak of Parnon. The Anna Bridge is also a local attraction. Three religious festivals add specific dates to your travel plans.

Village Character and Attractions

The large, three-storey tower houses define the character of Aghios Petros. If you would like to get to know the village through its architecture, these buildings are a clear point of interest. Their size, three storeys and designation as tower houses together form the defining feature. The Anna Bridge is another attraction in Aghios Petros. As a named structure, it differs from the type of house that defines the village: here, a single attraction and a feature of the village’s character stand side by side.

River and Hiking Trails

The Tanos River flows east of Aghios Petros. This compass direction provides a concrete point of reference for orientation: the Tanos lies to the east of the village. Alongside the built environment, it gives you a natural landmark. These are two distinct pieces of information for finding your bearings: the tower houses define the village’s character, while the Tanos lies in a clearly specified direction. This makes it possible to distinguish the destination’s architectural and geographical aspects.

Aghios Petros has a network of locally mapped hiking trails. Trails lead from Aghios Petros to Mikri Tourla and Megali Tourla. This means that a local trail network and two named destinations in the surrounding area are both available. Megali Tourla is considered the highest peak of Parnon. This gives the hiking destinations a concrete distinction: both names refer to destinations, but the special ranking applies to Megali Tourla. You can therefore distinguish between the locally mapped trails and those leading to the two peak destinations. Being considered the highest peak is an additional point of reference specifically for Megali Tourla.
