Gimari is a small traditional village and is designated as a traditional settlement in the Municipality of North Corfu. The village lies on a green hillside that reaches down to the sea. If you are looking for a hotel in Corfu, the village character and hillside setting are factors to consider when choosing where to stay. Consider whether this setting suits your travel plans before comparing individual options.

Hotels and accommodation in the village

There are a few hotels, holiday rooms, and tavernas in the village. Hotels and holiday rooms are different types of accommodation; tavernas add to the local offerings.

Kalami, Agni, and walking routes nearby

Nearby are two pebble beaches in different locations to the north and south: Kalami lies north of Gimari, while Agni lies to the south. For orientation, the direction is the clear difference, while both beaches share the same described type. If you also take the coast into account when choosing where to stay, the two beaches provide specific landmarks on different sides of Gimari.

Agni is also a small traditional quarter in the Municipality of Gimari. There are walking routes in the area around Agni to neighboring coves or to the village of Gimari. The walking options therefore include both coastal destinations and the village: when planning, you can weigh these different directions.

Corfu in the wider travel context

Corfu, as a broader travel destination, offers its own setting for culture and hiking. Corfu Old Town has preserved almost all of its historic urban fabric; its buildings date from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. Corfu Old Town and its two fortresses are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Archaeological Museum of Corfu was built primarily to display the Gorgon Medusa pediment from the great Temple of Artemis. The pediment dates to 585 BC and was excavated in 1911 near the Aghioi Theodoroi Monastery. This connects a specific work of art with its creation and the place where it was excavated.

The Museum of Asian Art in Corfu Old Town houses more than 11,000 objects from China, Japan, India, the Himalayas, and Central Asia. From Corfu Port, you can reach the museum on bus line 2, which runs between Mantouki and Kanoni. Check the timetable before traveling. With its broad geographical range, the collection offers a different focus from the historic urban fabric of the Old Town.

On a larger scale, the 180-kilometer Corfu Trail passes through several settlements; Benitses is one of its 13 daily stage locations. The long island route differs in scale from the walking options around Agni, which lead to neighboring coves or to the village of Gimari.
