If you are considering Dikorifo as a travel destination, you can weigh up several clearly distinct interests: architectural and local history, a landscape feature nearby, and hiking trails with different characteristics. The Church of Saint Minas stands in the village; Dikorifo is also mentioned in the Chronicle of Voutsas. Outside the village is Gouva, with a small gorge and a four-syllable echo. There are also two hiking references that answer different questions: one describes a moderately difficult route between villages, while the other descends to Dikorfo. This allows you to base your decision about Dikorifo on specific interests before looking for a hotel for your trip. It is helpful to consider features in the village, the surrounding area and along the hiking trails separately.

Gouva and the landscape outside the village

The small gorge at Gouva is outside the village, in the vicinity of Dikorifo and along the road to Manassí. A four-syllable echo forms there. The echo is therefore a specific natural feature, while the church and the chronicle relate to the village itself. This distinction in location helps you distinguish the village from points of interest in its surroundings.

There is also a steep, hard-to-access rock about 90 feet high near the gorge. The approximate height and difficult access answer different planning questions: one gives you an idea of its size, while the other indicates a practical limitation. Take access into account when deciding whether to include the rock in your plans.

Church and local history

The Church of Saint Minas is considered an important monument and dates from 1778; it was painted in 1812. There are 34 years between the two dates. This makes it possible to distinguish the building’s origins from its later painting as separate historical milestones.

The Chronicle of Voutsas mentions Dikorifo in 1431. At that time, the village had 18 houses and was called Mikrí Tzondíla. The chronicle’s mention predates the church dates: the number of houses and the name at the time relate to 1431, while 1778 and 1812 relate to the church. The village’s history and the history of the building therefore belong to different periods.

Hiking trails and how they differ

The Dikorfo–Kipi hiking trail is moderately difficult, passes through nature and connects two Zagori villages. The O3 national hiking trail descends to Dikorfo. For the first trail, the difficulty level and the connection between two villages are specified; the O3 description indicates Dikorfo as the direction of travel. These differences give you different points of reference when choosing a hike.

The Dikorfo–Kipi trail is rated moderately difficult, whereas the rock at Gouva is hard to access. These are different types of guidance: a difficulty rating for a hiking trail and an access note for a rock. Check current trail conditions before setting out, as they may change.
