Kriopigi between the pine-covered slope, village fountain and beaches
Accommodation in Kriopigi
Kriopigi combines a pine-covered slope with a beach, village life and regional produce. The destination is therefore about more than just a visit to the coast: the village has a fountain that gave it its name, traditional tavernas line the main square, and a longer walking trail leads to Kassandrino. If you’re looking for a hotel in Kriopigi, consider in advance which of these aspects of the area you’d like to include in your stay.
Pine-covered slope and views over the Gulf
The village lies amphitheatrically on the slope of a pine-covered hill and offers lovely views over the Gulf of Kassandra. The hillside setting, pine trees and views shape the area’s landscape. This makes the view from the village itself another highlight of the destination, alongside its beaches.
Two distinct types of beach
At the foot of Kriopigi is a pebble beach that has been awarded two Blue Flags for the quality and cleanliness of its water. As award status can change, check the latest information if needed. Not far from the settlement is Kriopigi Beach, a sandy beach considered a spot for swimming, sunbathing and water sports. The two beaches therefore differ both in sand versus pebbles and in their respective features: the pebble beach is distinguished by the award for its water, while Kriopigi Beach is known for the activities mentioned.
The village fountain
The fountain that gave Kriopigi its name can be visited in the village. It has been there for decades and is considered a historical and cultural attraction. This connects the name of the place with a specific point of interest in the village. If you’d like to get to know the village itself as well as its scenery and beach, the fountain offers a cultural point of interest.
Regional produce and tavernas
In Kriopigi, visitors can enjoy local produce where it is made: honey, fruit, wine, olives and olive oil. Being able to enjoy these products where they are made turns the focus from the coast to the produce itself. There are several traditional tavernas around Kriopigi’s main square. You can sample ouzo there, a traditional drink with a sweet aroma. If you’re planning to visit a particular taverna, check its current offerings in advance.
Walking trail to Kassandrino
The longer Kriopigi–Kassandrino–Kriopigi walking trail runs from Kriopigi along a road through a green forest to Kassandrino. The route is listed at an elevation of 200 metres. As a longer walk, it offers a different kind of travel experience from the two beach options described above. If you’d like to include both the coast and a walk in your plans, you can treat them as separate priorities. Check route conditions before setting out, as they can change.
