Agios Panteleimon: Coast, Beach and Surroundings
Accommodation in Agios Panteleimon
These include the Lechaina–Myrsini coast, several stream mouths, salt pans and two harbors with different names. The distance figures do not all start from the same place: some refer to one end of the coast, others to the beach or the settlement of Lechaina. You can therefore consider the places mentioned as separate points of reference.
Coastal Area and Landscape
A profile from 2015 places Lechaina–Myrsini Beach in the Gulf of Kyllini and about five kilometers from the settlement of Lechaina. The distance of around five kilometers refers to this settlement. This places the beach geographically in the gulf and spatially near the neighboring settlement. Lechaina–Myrsini refers to the beach, while Lechaina refers to the settlement.
The streams Anistatou, Melissou and Giannitsi flow into the sea along the bathing area of Lechaina–Myrsini. The three names refer to individual stream mouths along this stretch of coast. Salt pans lie about one kilometer from the northeastern end of the coast. In this distance figure, the end of the coast is the reference point. The stream mouths and salt pans can thus be located along different parts of the surrounding area.
The Beach and Harbor as Points of Reference
Ágios Panteleímonas Beach is near the settlement of the same name and is considered popular and organized. Check current access and facilities before visiting. If an organized beach is important to your plans, keep Ágios Panteleímonas in mind.
A profile from 2015 places the Ágios Panteleímon fishing shelter harbor at the northeastern end of Lechaina–Myrsini Beach, where it marks the boundary of this section of the beach. The harbor is therefore a point of reference at the end of the coast. Its name should not be confused with the Port of Kyllini, which is in a different geographical relation to the beach.
The Port of Kyllini lies west of Lechaina–Myrsini Beach, 2.2 kilometers from its end, and is operational. For this distance figure, the end of the beach is the starting point; it does not describe the distance to the settlement of Lechaina. The direction, distance and operational status here refer to the Port of Kyllini.
How to Interpret the Distances
The approximately five kilometers to the settlement of Lechaina, the roughly one kilometer from the salt pans to the northeastern end of the coast, and the 2.2 kilometers to the Port of Kyllini are different comparison figures. They refer to different starting points and should therefore not be read as three values for the same route. If the settlement, a particular section of beach or a harbor is important to your trip, pay attention to the name and reference point given for each location. This will help you distinguish the coastal places and understand the information as you plan.
