Võhma linn combines a local history shaped by the railway with cultural events, candle-making and leisure activities. A guided tour of Võhma Valgusevabrik includes a visit to the artists’ studio, where wedding candles are carefully decorated. In Valgusevabrik’s courtyard, there is a playground for children and a petting zoo with rabbits, ducks and guinea pigs. Crafts, play and animals offer different reasons to visit.

Play, Culture and Getting Around

At Võhma Playland, you can go roller-skating. There is also a two-storey indoor climbing area with slides and a ball pit, as well as a large trampoline with an obstacle course. Play and movement are the focus at Playland; at Valgusevabrik, the guided tour, studio and courtyard areas offer different experiences. This makes it easy to distinguish the play activities from candle decorating and the petting zoo when planning your trip according to your interests.

The Võhma Museum Room is located at Tallinna 15 in Võhma. The “Võhma” café is right next to the mini-train ride. Alongside the play and cultural activities, you can also visit a museum room with a specific address and a café whose location is clearly described.

Võhma Days and Local History

The Võhma Days tradition dates back to 1997. The XXIX edition, held in 2026, brought together Võhma Days and the Kesk-Eesti laat fair as a three-day event. Its programme combined culture, sports, market activities, music and activities for the whole family. The traditional folk strength competition “Võhma Vägilane” was also part of that edition.

The town’s development is closely connected with the railway. After the Mõisaküla–Viljandi–Tallinn line was completed in 1900, a settlement grew up around a station on the territory of Võhma village. It soon developed into an important railway junction and a workers’ settlement in northern Viljandimaa. Two railway references are worth distinguishing for orientation: the Mõisaküla–Viljandi–Tallinn connection is part of the settlement’s history from 1900; the north–south railway line running through Võhma is Tallinn–Lelle–Viljandi. The Tallinn–Viljandi road also passes through the town. Thus, the early development of the settlement around the station and the transport routes passing through Võhma belong to different historical contexts.

Another cultural and historical landmark is the renovated Võhma Cultural Centre, which opened at Christmas in 1998. The building had a hall with 343 seats.
