When searching for a hotel in Tõrva, your interests may be the deciding factor: cultural events, landscaped urban spaces, lakes and trails each offer a different focus. The following places and activities can help you get a sense of Tõrva as a travel destination and decide which themes you want to shape your stay.

Culture between church and cinema

The Tõrva Kirik-Kammersaal is located in a former Orthodox church. The building was constructed in 1903–1905 and renovated after wartime damage, with the work completed by December 1990. On average, 15–20 exhibitions and 35–40 concerts are held there each year. The programme also includes lectures, commemorative events, church services, receptions and conferences. So, in addition to exhibitions and concerts, the venue offers events of various kinds. The annual averages provide a general guide; you can check specific dates when planning your trip.

Tõrva Kino Koit opened on 1 September 1953. The building has a Stalinist style and is protected as a monument. Since 2019, new films have been shown there every week. If you would like to plan a cinema visit, check the current film programme and showtimes: the films and screening times change.

The square and lakes in the urban landscape

Tõrva Central Square stretches from the historic inn building to the town hall and continues from there to Lake Veskijärv. At around 13,000 square metres, the square is large; most of it is given over to walking paths and activity areas. The landscaping covers 5,000 square metres and includes the planting of nearly 2,000 trees and shrubs.

Natural Lake Vanamõisa lies on the northern edge of the town. At Riiska Lake beach, on the southeastern edge of town, there are changing cabins, toilets, volleyball courts, a swimming pier and swings. As the facilities may change, it is best to check before your visit.

Views and outdoor activities

Tõrva Lion Tower serves as a viewpoint overlooking the lake and its surroundings. The tower has four floors with jumping platforms. Its highest platform is 11 metres above the water; including the light masts, the tower stands 14 metres tall. The two measurements therefore refer to different things: 11 metres is the platform’s height above the water, while 14 metres is the total height of the tower including the light masts.

The Tõrva Health Trails run through nature and the town, around lakes and through parks. You can run, walk and cycle on them; there is also a strength-training area. In winter, they include ski trails of varying lengths. The season is therefore also relevant to your plans: the options range from exercise on the trails to seasonal ski routes.

Around Tõrva Veemõnula, well-maintained trails for disc golf, skiing, walking and cycling wind through a beautiful pine forest. Unlike the Health Trails, which run through nature, the town, around lakes and through parks, the pine forest is highlighted here as the trail setting; disc golf is also among the activities mentioned. These differences can help you choose the right focus for your time outdoors.
