Orissaare offers several clearly distinct starting points for planning a hotel stay: trails, water sports on Illiku, a harbour with an anchorage, and nature and cultural attractions. If you are looking for hotels in Orissaare, it helps to consider what matters most to you: would you like to get active, include water activities, or visit a particular attraction? The options range from specific trail lengths to individual destinations with their own character.

Health Trail: distances and connection with nature

The Orissaare Health Trail consists of three routes: 2.7 km, 2.3 km and 0.6 km. The shortest and longest routes differ by 2.1 km; the two longer routes are 0.4 km apart. This makes it easy to compare the route lengths directly if you are planning your day around a particular distance. The trail is suitable for walking, running, cycling and Nordic walking. Most of it runs through the Tumala protected area, a valuable conservation area with diverse natural communities. Both route length and connection with nature are therefore central considerations when choosing a route.

Water sports and Titerand on Illiku

Illiku caters to a range of water-related interests. Illiku Surf organises surfing and other water-related activities on the island; Illiku is also a surf spot for kitesurfing, windsurfing and wing foiling. The three named types of surfing give the surf spot a specific profile, while the organised activities cover a broader range. So if water sports are a key factor in planning your trip, you can distinguish between a general offering of water-related activities and the explicitly named surf disciplines.

Titerand is on the north shore of Illiku Island. The water there is shallow and warm, making it suitable for small children. For families taking child-friendly features into account when planning a trip, this is a specific point to consider. At Titerand, the focus is therefore not on choosing a surf discipline, but on shallow, warm water suitable for small children.

Harbour, oak tree and rally exhibition

Orissaare Harbour is on Illiku, 700 m from the town centre, and offers visiting sailors an anchorage. The distance also gives other travellers a specific point of reference for the town centre. The harbour and surfing activities are both located on Illiku, but cater to different interests: an anchorage on the one hand, organised water activities and surf disciplines on the other.

The Orissaare Stadium Oak Tree grows in the middle of a football pitch. In 2015, it received the title “European Tree of the Year”. No admission ticket is required to visit the oak tree. Its location on the pitch and its award make it an unusual nature destination: unlike the trails in the protected area, the focus here is on a single tree and its unique position in the stadium. Another point of interest is Orissaare Rally Park, a permanent exhibition dedicated to rallying. If you prefer a themed attraction to a landscape or an individual natural feature when choosing places to visit, the rally exhibition offers a clearly different focus.
