Kehtna: Park, Manor House and Leisure Activities
Accommodation in Kehtna
Kehtna offers several reasons to visit: Kehtna Manor Park, the history of the manor house and a range of leisure activities. If you’re looking for a hotel in Kehtna, you might first consider whether walks, local history or sports are especially important to your travel plans. The park is ideal for walks; other options include an athletics stadium, a disc golf course and activities for a range of interests. Kehtna can be explored through nature, history and exercise.
Park and Manor House
Kehtna Manor Park is open to the public and is ideal for walks. Kehtna Park is considered one of the most species-rich parks in Estonia. This gives a walk a distinct connection to nature. The park and manor house should be distinguished: the former is open to the public, while the manor house is privately owned. Nature and architectural history thus offer two different perspectives on Kehtna. If you enjoy spending time outdoors, you can plan a walk in the park; the history of the house offers a distinct cultural focus.
The History of Kehtna Manor
Kehtna Manor was first mentioned in 1470. In 1874, the Lilienfeld family had the early Neoclassical main building remodeled in the Neo-Renaissance style. Its architectural history thus combines an early Neoclassical main building with a later Neo-Renaissance remodeling. During the 1905 uprising, the manor house was burned down and soon restored. The dates mark different milestones: 1470 for the first mention, 1874 for the remodeling, and 1905 for the destruction and subsequent restoration. This makes it possible to understand the history of the house as a sequence of events rather than reducing it to a single date. For those interested in culture, this architectural development adds a specific local history dimension to a walk in the park.
Sports and Leisure
The leisure activities cater to a range of interests. In 2025, a skate park was built close to Kehtna Stadium and Kehtna Primary School. Kehtna Stadium is an athletics stadium. Kehtna also has a disc golf course and a low adventure course for children. These offer different ways to stay active: athletics, skateboarding and disc golf each have their own focus, while the adventure course is specifically for children. If a particular facility is key to your day’s plans, check the latest information on its use in advance.
Library in Kehtna
The library is another local amenity. The library in Kehtna is one of seven libraries in Kehtna rural municipality. The municipal libraries offer access to computers and the internet. Kehtna thus offers several different things to explore, from a walk in a species-rich park and the history of the manor house to sports and the library.
