When planning a trip to Věžná, you can focus on several highlights: hiking trails, the valley landscape, the illuminated SK Věžná ski lift and the Church of St. Martin. Depending on your plans, you can make the route, the views, a seasonal activity or cultural history your main focus. The routes differ in several ways: where they start at the railway station, how they run above the village, or the sequence of named destinations they pass.

Hiking and Landscapes

Věžná lies in the valley of a stream that flows into the Nedvědička from the left. A blue-marked hiking trail climbs from Věžná railway station towards Střítež. The yellow-marked trail runs above Věžná past a trail junction and offers a view of Bor across the Nedvědička Valley. The descriptions give you different points of reference: the blue trail is defined by its starting point and direction, while the yellow trail is defined by its location, the trail junction and the view. To choose between them, consider whether the climb from the railway station or the view across the valley matters more to you. The valley setting and the view offer two different perspectives: one describes the surroundings of Věžná, while the other is the view of Bor across the Nedvědička from the yellow trail. Before hiking, check the trail conditions and markings.

Another hiking route is called “Věžná railway station – Věžná – Smrček – Pernštejn – Nedvědice.” It runs from Věžná railway station through Věžná, Smrček and Pernštejn to Nedvědice. Like the blue trail, this route starts at the railway station, but differs in the sequence of named places along the way. While the blue trail heads towards Střítež, this route lists several points on the way to its destination, Nedvědice. The Věžná tourist signpost is on the village square, at a junction of the main roads. The village square is therefore another specific landmark in the village, in addition to the railway station, which is the starting point for both of the routes described.

Evening Skiing and Seasonal Planning

The SK Věžná ski lift is illuminated for evening skiing. Unlike the hiking trails, its actual operation depends on snow and seasonal conditions. If you plan to include evening skiing in your trip, check in advance whether the lift will be operating during your travel dates. This makes its season-dependent operation a separate consideration when planning a stay in Věžná.

Church of St. Martin

The Church of St. Martin was built of stone in the 16th century on a hillside above Věžná and is designated a cultural monument. Inside is a life-size depiction of Christ crucified. A contribution of CZK 69,000 towards its restoration was recorded for 2015. The building’s construction date, building material and hillside location give it a distinct architectural character; the artwork adds a religious detail to the interior. The two dates serve different purposes: the 16th century refers to the church’s construction, while 2015 is the year for which the restoration contribution was recorded. This provides a distinct focus on cultural history alongside the landscape and hiking highlights.
