Hostačov: Castle, Parkland and Disc Golf
Accommodation in Hostačov
Hostačov combines castle history with parkland and a special range of leisure activities. When planning your stay, you can take into account its historic attractions, walking trails and seasonal events, as well as a round on the disc golf course.
Castle History and Architectural Ensemble
Hostačov Castle is designated a protected cultural monument. It was built after the mid-16th century on the site of a Gothic fortress or Gothic manor house. An important date in its building history is 1557: Heřman Bohdanecký of Hodkov bought the fortress and gradually converted it into a castle. The castle’s history therefore reaches back to a fortified predecessor and encompasses its subsequent development.
The castle includes a courtyard surrounded on three sides by arcades supported by pillars, on both the ground and upper floors. This two-storey layout gives the courtyard a clearly defined frame. Hostačov’s architectural character is shaped not only by the castle’s origins, but also by the design of its interior space.
The site’s early history is not limited to the fortress: Hostačov’s original buildings also included a farmyard, a brewery and an inn. From 1846, the Hostačov estate also included a sugar factory, considered one of the first in the Čáslav region. These buildings and the factory broaden the picture of Hostačov’s history to include economic and industrial aspects.
Parkland, Walking Trails and Disc Golf
The grounds today cover 12 hectares of parkland. There are woodland paths for walking on the grounds; access to them is subject to the venue’s operating conditions. If you are planning a walk, check the current visitor conditions in advance.
The Hostačov disc golf course is right next to the castle. It is designed primarily for competitive players; complete beginners can also play the first nine holes. The information for beginners applies to these nine holes, while the course as a whole is geared towards competitive players. Check the reservation conditions before travelling. The course layout may also change.
Seasonal Events
The events programme offers different highlights throughout the year. In spring and autumn, it includes multi-day research retreats and training courses with overnight stays. In summer, Hostačov opens its grounds for festivals, conferences and weddings. During this season, the grounds can accommodate up to 250 people at outdoor events.
Individual events and availability change over time. If a particular event determines your travel dates, check the relevant dates before making plans. The seasonal overview is a useful guide: spring and autumn are associated with retreats and training courses, while other types of events can be held on the grounds in summer.
