For a stay in Předín, three distinct areas of interest stand out: the history of button making, religious art and the Na Kobylí hlavu nature trail. They offer different ways to explore the village—through exhibits, historic artworks and a trail through the Křižanovská vrchovina.

Button making at the Malé Předínské Museum

The Malé Předínské Museum is open during special community events; visits can be arranged by phone. Call ahead to arrange a visit if you want to plan one specifically.

The button-making exhibition includes mother-of-pearl brooches, buckles, hairpins, ashtrays, necklaces and caskets inlaid with mother-of-pearl. The selection therefore goes beyond a single type of object: jewellery and hair ornaments are displayed alongside buckles and everyday items. Mother-of-pearl is part of the description of the brooches, while for the caskets it is described as an inlay. The exhibition can thus be viewed both by object type and by the use of mother-of-pearl; the individual pieces are not limited to jewellery.

Button production in Předín finally ceased at the end of September 1991. The precise date gives a clear timeframe for the history of production and establishes it as a chapter of local history that has come to a close.

Religious art and historical references

Church patronage for the church in Předín is mentioned for the year 1366. The Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dates from the mid-18th century and is now located by the Church of Saint Wenceslas. The details belong to different historical periods: 1366 refers to the mention of the patronage, while the mid-18th century refers to the statue. The gap of several centuries highlights the difference between an early reference to the church and a later work of art.

A second historical landmark is the stone wayside shrine above Předín. It dates from the 17th century and is regarded as a work of high artistic craftsmanship. Together with the statue, it offers a clear comparison: the statue is by the Church of Saint Wenceslas and dates from the mid-18th century, while the older wayside shrine stands above the village. This brings religious artworks of two forms to your attention at two differently described locations.

Nature trail and landscape

The Na Kobylí hlavu nature trail begins in Předín and ends in Markvartice. It passes through the Křižanovská vrchovina and over Kobylí hlava, the second-highest mountain in the Třebíčsko area. The details provide three distinct points of reference: Předín as the starting point, Markvartice as the destination and the mountain as part of the route. This makes it possible to understand the regional character of the trail not only through its two villages, but also through the landscape and the mountain’s elevation ranking. The trail complements the museum’s and religious art’s more village- and object-focused themes with a sense of place.

The Hory–Štůlně complex offers another connection to the landscape. It consists of mining pits in a forest within the cadastral area of Předín. This sets it apart from the nature trail: Na Kobylí hlavu can be understood through its starting point, destination and mountain crossing, while Hory–Štůlně is defined by traces of mining and their forest setting. The trail primarily answers questions about the route and its destination; Hory–Štůlně draws attention to the forest landscape shaped by mining in the cadastral area of Předín.
